Annoying Balabolka issue I want to fix

Hi!

I like listening to stuff using Balabolka but one thing drives me up the wall and I can't figure out how to fix it: how do I get it to stop reading words like Cap. as "capacity" and Phil. as Philippines and Man. as Manatoga, etc.? :confused

It does not do it if there is no . at the end but when there is it doesn't just read what is there and it's annoying.

Well, exactly, see, this is why I am asking, because I myself have had trouble finding where to ask.

I have tried to find an official site with a friendly forum, I have tried figuring it out using the software's own help files; as these efforts have failed I am looking here. Thank you for checking the obvious place; I recognize many people may not do that before posting here, but looking in the obvious places has not worked for me. I will say the software itself is safe. It works great and I have used it over the years on my PC and laptops. Unfortunately I cannot find an official forum or place dedicated to this software alone to consult.

Go to the homepage at -www.cross-plus-a.com/balabolka.htm-, scroll to the bottom and where it says 'Copyright © 2006-2013', click on 'Ilya Morozov' and send him an email. Good luck

 

I have followed your advice; I hope I receive a response.

It's so not a "big deal" in the grand scheme of things, but I listen several hours a day so the issue comes up over and over and over so I figured I would make an effort to resolve it.

The only other thing that I can suggest is to put a space between the word and the full stop. eg Cap .
If that works, then try Find/Replace to find "." and replace with " ." (excluding the inverted commas)

 

Very smart catching that. :cool It is what I have been doing. Unfortunately it gets old. I do not always know what the text contains ahead of time so I have to encounter the problem at least once before I make the change, and then there is the possibility that it only occurs once, so I tend to just not bother. Now, if there was a file I could load only once with all these saved changes then it may make it worthwhile to enter manually, but as it is I have to do it for each file I open without knowing how useful my efforts will be in the long run.

I actually saw your question yesterday and searched all over the Internet last night and earlier this morning to find an answer to your problem. However, although the Balabolka program is listed for download from numerous places; as well as here at Major Geeks, unfortunately I could find no replication of your problem and/or how to "fix" it posted anywhere on the web.

Nor did I see any forums specifically devoted to Balabolka tips and solutions. Also, Ilya Morozov's main website for the program was blocked by Malwarebytes, as plodr mentioned earlier.

Side Note: You did not say which version you are currently running but the very latest update was Balabolka 2.8.0.560 listed very recently at the beginning of this month (Nov. 2013)
