Its time I got a smart phone
I have an IPOD TOUCH< so Ilike the apps I can use
    I do not like apple
What would be the best basic smart phone to buy?
I looked at Consumer Reports and I can't find one I think I'd like

I like to have a phyisical QWERTY keyboard, be able too use apps such as Chess.com and Friend Finder and zynaga poker
I like to have a camera and be able to drag/drop pics via link to my computer and be able to see the date on the pics, my ipod touch can take pics, but unless I use
the apple program(itunes) to download them, I can't get the dates from them
    a removeable card is best

Im thinking about the galaxy 3 or 4

You are not going to find a physical Qwerty keyboard on a phone, unless you purchase one of those cases with a bluetooth capable keyboard. All phones now have a keyboard on screen.

As for the Galaxy, if you are going with that line, go with the Galaxy S4 Active. One good thing about the Galaxy S4, is that it has built in sensors for humidity, temp, barometer, etc., that there are apps out there that will use those sensors.

Now on the bad side, if you do like my son did; trip and crack the glass. The replacement of the Gorilla Glass costs as much as the phone cost on a two year contract, even with the insurance through your phone carrier.

If you have the iPod Touch, just go with a iPhone 5. Skip the newer model at this time, until they release the next update for iOS.

Sprint has a CDMA cell network, which makes for a smaller market and slimmer pickings. How about something like this:
    http://www.amazon.com/Sprint-Samsun...f=dp_return_2?ie=UTF8&n=2335752011&s=wireless

There are not a lot of smartphones with physical keyboards now. Many are older models or used models. Have you stopped by your local Sprint dealer and asked for help finding a phone?

Also, if you get a smartphone, you will need to upgrade to a data plan, which may be more expensive than your current plan.

    Thanks
    I found a review
    http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/...epic-4g-another-worthy-galaxy-phone/index.htm
I can't tell if the phoine can save pictures/video on a SDS card or not
I am aware I'll need my data plan, but the 3 other people on the account/plan, have 1 apple Iphones
and 1 nokia flip phone(from years ago(shes old and doesnt want more))

Ive been to the local sprint store/walmart/.BEst uy, w
all which can upgrade my sprint account, but have no phones that are both a smart phone and a QWERTY keyboard
I thought if I got the galaxy 3, I could get a blue tooth keyboard?
Do you think I should get the Epic, which has
is a smart phone(let me play poker/chessFriend finder) or the Galaxy which does all the above but needs a bluetoth keyboard?

Im thinking fewer accesserios, get the Epic
    Thoughts?

Why do you require the physical keyboard?

I text a lot, but I was thinking the voice text(where it writes what you say) might work fine.
so I might not need it
then I'd get the galaxy 3 or 4.
it has a microdisk and voice text.
    so that would work.

Siri will allow you to use your voice to send a text, Android should be able to do so also (only have a Nexus 7 tablet, would have to check my son, regarding if his Samsung Galaxy S4 would allow the same as Siri.

Google Now is actually just as capable as Siri. Moreso, in some cases.

With regards to these Galaxy 3 and 4 . I have read a review that Samsung's Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 may use the same display technology, but the Note 3's larger and brighter screen. In terms of camera, the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 both offer 13-megapixel rear shooters. I hope that gives everyone an idea of their differences:)

The Note 3 uses different screen tech.

It uses some weird diagonal pixel pattern.

Thanks, I was going to get the G3 because I don't find "newer" models to be that much better. Now I have a valid reason.

For the company, I would go with Virgin Mobile if they have decent coverage in your area. I've been using them for years now with no issues. For a phone I don't really have any idea what kind, although if you want a physical keyboard and a newer phone I think your best option would be to get a mini Bluetooth keyboard.

    I'm buying from Ebay a
Samsung Galaxy S III SPH-L710 - Pebble Blue (Sprint) Smartphone (C)

    also
for SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 S III SPRINT L710 BLACK FULL BODY CASE COVER ACCESSORY NEW

also SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 S III SPRINT L710 PURPLE COVER CASE CHROME STAND ACCESSORY

    I want a phone that:
-I can use as a phone
    -play zyngas poker on
    -play chess on
    -use FRIEND FINDER app
    -I can dictate to
-save pics on a SD card or link to my computer without needing a program (itunes) and just transfer pics/music to and from my computer)

this sounds like the right phone and it has all the protection gear so if I drop it, it wont just fall into pieces? or do I need an otter case?
I think I need an otter case

but that leads me to ask, since I dont know Jack about Tech stuff,
    what is the difference between

    Samsung SPH-L710
    Dual core, 1500 MHz, Krait
    2048 MB RAM

    OR A
    Samsung Galaxy S3
    1024 MB RAM
    Quad core, 1400 MHz, ARM

    http://www.phonearena.com/phones/co...-Sprint,Samsung-Galaxy-S-III/phones/7099,6330

I think I want th Galaxy S3 S III I9300, but I can't be for sure that there is much difference.

then again, I could be wrong

the main difference seems to be the System chip
Samsung Galaxy S III Sprint has:
    Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960

    Samsung Galaxy S III has:
    Samsung Exynos 4 (4412)
and the winner is: Samsung Exynos 4 (4412)

One is for CDMA Sprint ONLY. Snapdragons are used in these.

One is for GSM networks. The Exynos SoC is used in these.

The user experience is similar between both, with the Exynos coming out slightly ahead.

    thanks

I could find a Samsung Galaxy S III has:( Samsung Exynos 4 (4412)) on ebay for less than $400
so I'm getting a Samsung Galaxy S III SPH-L710 - (which has the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960)
and thanks to your post, I dont need to go to a sprint store to price the other Samsung Exynos 4, cause it doesnt much matter
Least I dont think it'll matter.. Oh, I might as well go price it
