    Hi

Well mite as well be no more, it is going "read only" at the end of the month. Ive been posting there for years so Im really POed about it like many others.

I told members there that Major Geeks forum is the best place to go, cuz they have the best answers and they have great software for download too.
You can see what I told them here

Major Geeks is my only tech forum I usually ever go to, unless I need something extremely specific...in which case I usually go to a manufacture's forum.

Sorry to hear about your forum's shut down and thanks for the props.

A shame. Maybe they don't like the pace that their forum is growing.

Ditto. Didn't go to PC worlds forum, but I did like their magazine (when they still did a hard copy one).

Caliban I don't need no steenkin' title!

Ha - yeah, especially back in the dialup days when they had the freeware/shareware CD included - sure beat wasting hours to download a Soldier of Fortune or Half-Life demo. Those magazines were like gold.

I forgot about those! I loved those CD's . . . all kinds of good stuff on them.

It occurs to me I haven't heard a dial-up modem making a connection in forever. I might have to install one (I know I probably have six of them collecting dust somewhere) and record the sound for a ring tone or something :-D

I remember when AOL would flood you with floppy disks... I just formated them and used them as free goodies. :-D

Ha! I should have known there would be a wav file online for that :-D Brings back memories of listening to the sound to make sure the modem made a "good connection". I could swear that if it made a certain sound I was sure to get my usual top 48K, lol
