It's just like a freezer up here in Toronto, perhaps colder in the burbs.
    @9:00 AM it's -24C = -11.2F
    Windchill: -36C = -32.8F

Hopefully we wont' have a power outage now which we had just recently due to an ice storm.

Damn, Oma - that is too cold. Come on down here to Myrtle Beach - it's a balmy 30ºF. :(

We got a fire going. ;)

Never braved those temps ever! You guys prolly wear a T-shirt in 0C. :-D
The house here is warmed to 15C and I'm wearing a duck down jacket inside. :-D

Keep warm and safe from the ice storms.

    Cheers..

Yeah, it's nice and warm inside, not like abt. 2 weeks ago. I believe that all power was restored just a few days ago. Total cost of removing tree branches and trees (over 6-8 weeks) is estimated at $75 million while restoring the power outage was $1 million a day. Some few hundreds had a power outage lasting for about 10 days! Sun is shining here and that means it's really cold.

You lucky guy Caliban, why that sad emoticon?

The forecast sez that the coldsnap will likely be over by tomorrow and that the max temp. then will be -1C, abt 0 F.

It's stupid cold out here too, oma. :(

    12F (-11C)

We just got 6 inches of snow last night, which for us isn't really all that horrible, but it's snow. And it's cold. lol

15C in your house??? I just converted that...59F....that's really cold for a house. I'd have a coat on too!

Thanks sikvik. No to wearing T-shirts. But many people leaped into the lake on New Year's day in their bathing suits, mainly for charity. Brrrr. It's a tradition. Don't blame you for wearing a duck down jacket inside, we bundled up during the power outage and lots of blankets, shivering at 13-14C inside our home. If the power outage had lasted longer than 2 days for us, it would have been colder inside.

I used to love snow but it looks as if we're entering an ice age Laura. If we are to believe the weather forecast it will be -1C tomorrow and possibly snow. Here there's still that ice on the grass from the ice storm we had about 2 weeks ago with some snow on top of it.

If the sun shines here in the winter under blue skies and the wind comes from the north - watch out, usually bitterly cold. Snow in the forecast here.

True. I'd blame it on not having double glazing and good sealing. That tech has arrived recently in India, still not to popular though. Time to invest. :)
Here's wishing for no outages and warmer weather, oma. :)

    Cheers..

Can't someone talk Rob Ford into going outside for a few minutes and unleashing one of his rants? That amount of hot air should raise the temperature by at least 20 degrees. :-D

roflmao He said the ice storm was not an emergency so neither this cold. I wished he would clam up, save his breath but he doesn't because he likes to be in the limelight. We still see and hear (about) him every day. :cry The cleanup of that storm will take months if Rob Ford has his way but the deputy mayor wants to call in the army. Rob Ford is still very popular here with his followers (Rob Nation). He is a liar saying that he saved the city 1B $$ and those peeps believe him although it isn't true. That's not the only lie he has been telling as you may know, except perhaps that he gets plenty to eat at home. :-D

It this do nothing Congress would quit messing with the Global Warming, this would not happen.

    :-D:-D

Supposed to be in the fooking 20's here Tuesday. I live in the South, I don't do cold weather well. Stay warm folks. The good side is you can carry a larger handgun when it gets cold. :-D

Maxwell Fredrick Dog will be in for a surprise on Tuesday. Dog goes out in the upper 40's and sits on the couch shivering when I let him back in.

Ice quakes here in Toronto and also in the town where my daughter lives. They woke up several times during last night, their beds were shaking and sounds of an explosion. They checked the house from top to bottom, didn't find anything wrong with it, went back to bed, rinse and repeat 3 times. In the area where I live there were also these ice quakes but we didn't hear or feel anything. Here's a link with an explanation of what ice quakes are. http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2014/01/03/what-is-an-ice-quake_n_4536279.html

Now they are saying it will be in the teens Tuesday. Most thermometers around here don't go that low. ;)

We are currently at -1F (-18C) with wind chill at -32 (-35C). Since Friday we've gotten just over a foot of snow, and it's still falling. The dog now takes approximately 45 seconds to do his business and come back inside. LOL

The water line is frozen solid at work. If they don't have water for coffee, I am so going to protest!

We got our protest chant ready: "No Coffee, No Crap^er, No Work!" ;)

-9F here past two nights. My poor truck starts, but she doesn't like it! sounds like a coffee grinder someone tossed a beer can in for about a minute . . . I feel for ya, baby!

Looks like it's not getting above 0 till late tomorrow (high of +12) but then it's back to the negatives again.

Ugh. Two days of below zero temperatures are my limit. You try going out to feed in these windchills. Not a pleasant experience.
