A few days ago, my computer began playing invisible random audio ads and forecfully restarting. I went through the "Read & Run me" thread, and only MGTools had a trojan. I was told not to do anything and I await my next step. Here are my 5 logs. Thank you so much.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Are you working at another forum to fix this? Who asked you to run ComboFix??

This is why the READ & RUN ME tells you did ignore this and to disable your antivirus program. Your protection software is incorrect.

Do you have any idea what the below folder and file showing in your Hitman log are for?
    C:\Windows\System32\FFSJ\FFSJSHL.dll

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win 7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    R3 - URLSearchHook: Hotspot Shield Toolbar - {c95a4e8e-816d-4655-8c79-d736da1adb6d} - C:\Program Files\Hotspot_Shield\tbHots.dll
    R3 - URLSearchHook: KeyBar 2.3 Toolbar - {3f842035-47f4-4f10-846b-6199b07f09b8} - C:\Program Files\KeyBar_2.3\prxtbKeyB.dll
    O2 - BHO: KeyBar 2.3 - {3f842035-47f4-4f10-846b-6199b07f09b8} - C:\Program Files\KeyBar_2.3\prxtbKeyB.dll
    O3 - Toolbar: KeyBar 2.3 Toolbar - {3f842035-47f4-4f10-846b-6199b07f09b8} - C:\Program Files\KeyBar_2.3\prxtbKeyB.dll
    O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-18\..\RunOnce: [SpUninstallDeleteDir] rmdir /s /q "\SearchProtect" (User 'SYSTEM')
    O4 - HKUS\.DEFAULT\..\RunOnce: [SpUninstallDeleteDir] rmdir /s /q "\SearchProtect" (User 'Default user')

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Please download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.
    • Run OTM.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, Win7 or Win8, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).
    • Copy the lines from the below codebox to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C
(or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy): Do not include the word Code: which is just a title line of
      the code box

    :Commands
    [purity]
    [EmptyTemp]
    [start explorer]
    [Reboot]
    • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the yellow bar
      ) and choose Paste.
    • Now click the large http://forums.majorgeeks.com/chaslang/images/MoveIt!.png button.
    • If OTM asks to reboot your computer, allow it to do so. The report should appear in Notepad after the reboot.
    • Close OTM.
Now navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder ( assuming your Windows drive is C). This is where your log will be
saved in the form of Date and Time mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log. Just look for the most recent .log file. Attach
this log file to your next message.

Now please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Note: That JRT may reset your home page to a google default so you will need to restore your home page setting if this happens.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.
Also, please download SystemLook from one of the links below and save it to your Desktop.
    Download Mirror #1
    Download Mirror #2
    • Double-click SystemLook.exe to run it.
    • Copy the content of the following codebox into the main textfield:
      Code:
      :filefind
      rpcss.dll

    • Click the Look button to start the scan.
    • When finished, a notepad window will open with the results of the scan. You can just close this notepad window since the log is already saved on your Desktop. Be patient! It may look like it is not doing anything, but it takes awhile for this to scan thru your whole system look for matches.
    • Please attach the SystemLook.txt log found on your Desktop to next reply.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, Win7 or Win8, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles log
    • the JRT.TXTlog
    • the SystemLooklog
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Before I came to this forum, I saw on another website with a similar problem that that was the way to go. Unfortunately for me, it did not solve the problem.

I would say when I downloaded the FFSJ Splitter/Joiner years ago that that file was created.

Okay, so I just finished your instructions and will provide you with my four logs. As far as I can tell, there are no problems. If there are any problems in the coming week, I will let you know. Thank you for your instructions. If there's anything else I can do, please let me know.

You're welcome. Your logs are clean. You need to get your Windows Updates. You are running a non-updated version of Windows y which is a security risk. The link in the final instructions below includes a 1st step of going to Windows Update.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. If you used ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Press and hold the Windows key http://forums.majorgeeks.com/chaslang/images/Windows_Logo_key.gif and then press the letter R on your keyboard. This opens the Run dialog box.
      • Copy and paste the below into the Run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    4. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    5. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    8. If you are running Win 8, Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below to flush restore points:
      • Refer to the instructions for your WIndows version in this link: Disable And Enable System Restore
      • What we want you to do is to first disable System Restore to flush restore points some of which could be infected.
      • Then we want you to Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    9. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Hello, there are still random audio clips, sometimes one over another.

Okay then perhaps some items that OTM was supposed to remove did not get removed. Maybe you had not rebooted. You need to reboot after running OTM if it does not automatically reboot your PC.

Let's also remove the below adware just to make sure they are not adding to problems. Uninstall the below:
    Coupon Companion
    Hotspot_Shield Toolbar

Please download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.
    • Run OTM.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, Win7 or Win8, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).
    • Copy the lines from the below codebox to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C
(or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy): Do not include the word Code: which is just a title line of
      the code box
    Code:
    :Processes
    explorer.exe

    :Files
    C:\SearchProtect
    C:\Windows\System32\banfm.tgw
    C:\Windows\System32\njxe.yvz
    C:\Windows\System32\qzarwne.prl
    C:\Windows\System32\wfgqm.cgk
    C:\Windows\System32\xzdlgtk.yqa
    C:\Windows\System32\yccsoi.oih
    :Commands
    [purity]

    • Close OTM and make sure that your PC is rebooted now!!!!
    • After reboot, now navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder ( assuming your Windows drive is C). This is where your log will be saved in the form of Date and Time mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log. Just look for the most recent .log file. Attach this log file to your next message.
Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, Win7 or Win8, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles log
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

I uninstalled the two programs liked you ask. Then I ran OTM and after the required restart I was left with a black screen and only the cursor. Everytime I turn on my machine it loads Windows and I can only see a black screen with the cursor. Please help!

Interesting! Not sure how uninstalling those items and deleting those junk files would cause this.

If you boot in safe mode, can you get the safe mode desktop to load?

Also try a power down of your PC for a few minutes before turning it back on. Also make sure no USB devices are connected.

  9. slashmastah

I unplugged all USBs and started in safe mode but the same thing happens, black with cursor.

Try booting back in normal mode and when you get to the black screen hit CTRL-SHIFT-ESC ( simultaneously ).

Does Task Manager come up? If yes, click File and then select New Task ( Run ... ). Enter explorer.exe in the the Open box and click OK. Does your Desktop show up?
