    Hi,
My laptop froze while I was online. I couldn't get anything to work, so I had to shut if off by using the power button.
I restarted it in safe mode. I was still having issues, so I closed it down again, and started it normally.
It's still "sick". I get to web pages, but backgrounds are not showing, and the formats of the pages are not correct, as well as some link buttons are not working.
I am trying to not have to restore it if I don't have to.
Can anyone shed some light on this for me?
    Thank you,
My computer is a Toshiba Protege (laptop) windows 7.

    Too many variables to troubleshoot.

    What browser are you using?

Does it happen on all browsers?

Open a run command (windows key + R) type "iexplore.exe -extoff" without the quotes. Does it work now?

Check for any strange BHO's (Browser Helper Objects) by looking for installed add-ons, extensions, etc.

Try right-clicking the icon and "Run as Adminstrator"

This sort of issue sounds like it *could* be related to malware, but it could just be a simple issue with your browser.

Try those steps, if nothing pans out, you may want to start a new thread on the Malware support section after following the guidelines for it

You did a full system restore? or a system repair using Win7 repair disk? or did you simply reinstall MSIE? The reason I ask is because anything short of a full system restore back to factory state would not have taken care of malware that might have been causing or contributing to the strange behavior. I'd take the advise of falconattack and download a boot-time AV scanner to make certain your system is clean.
