First, this is my first thread and first time using a forums so I apologize if i posted it in the wrong place.
The problem is the following:After some optimizing of my drivers i managed to fix some ingame problems with which i have been struggling for quite a bit.But now i can't enter amd catalyst controll, the error says "To run this application you first must install one of the following versions of the .NET Framework: V4.0"
The thing is i already have net framework 4.0, when i go into programs and features i see the following:
    Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Extended
MIcrosoft >NET Framework 4 Client Profile
next to them it says version 4.0.30319 (both of them which i guess is important)
I also tried runing razer game booster which would pop up with the same error suggesting that is not amd catalyst's fault
    My specs are the following:
    Windows 7 64 bit
amd radeon hd 7770 with driver version 13.200.0.0 and driver date 9/11.2013
    pentium R dual core cpu E5300 @2.60
    3 gb of ram

It sounds like the .NET package has been corrupted. Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling it?

  3. Referystylex

Yes, i reinstalled it a few times and when uninstalling it i used some special clean up tool created by the team connected to net framework.
Also when i reintsalled it i tried using command prompt to use a special command
http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Fo...y-programs-wont-recoginze-it?forum=netfxsetup which you can find in here bolded with black letters.
I cleared out my temp folder and ran installation as administrator, also the install would say its succesfull every time
I also turned net framework 3.5.1 in network futures on

Maybe if you would give me a tip oh how to clean install net frameork?
Im not sure i think that i dont just need 4.0 but the ones before and that there are certain dependacies between them

You had a healthy installation of .NET Framework v4.0 and suffer from nondescript, possibly AMD driver related problems
You installed some updated AMD Catalyst drivers
AMD Catalyst controls no longer work
You still have an intact installation of .NET Framework v4.0
You nevertheless successfully uninstall and reinstall .NET Framework v4.0 using Windows installer.
AMD Catalyst controls still don't work
You successfully uninstall .NET Framework v4.0, then successfully reinstall it using only DOS commands, as suggested by .NET website.
AMD Catalyst controls still don't work.
You uninstall .NET Framework v4.0 and successfully install v3.x, which is also supposed to be compatible with AMD drivers.
AMD Catalyst Controls still don't work

If I had to put money on the outcome of that story, I'd have to bet that it's the new drivers that are causing the problem (regardless of how adamantly the AMD configuration program denies responsibility). I can't think of anything you could do to rectify the problem, other than reinstalling your previous AMD drivers in the hopes that you had an AMD related driver problem that would be fixed with reinstallation of the whole set.

In the hopes that someone smarter than me pops in here to lend a hand, you should have a detailed inventory of your system for them to look at. You can do that most easily by following along:

OK, first I need you to download a program called Speccy from the following page:

    http://majorgeeks.com/Speccy_d6358.html

    1. Install the program and don't change any of the settings. Just leave them at their default settings
    2. Run the program and let it analyze your system (takes less than 30 seconds). When it finishes click FILE >>Save As Text
    3. Save the text file to your desktop.
    4. Go to your desktop and open the text file with notepad (just double click on it). Edit out any personal information including serial numbers, then save it.
    5. If you know how to archive files using the ZIP or RAR format then go ahead and archive the text file. If not, then don't worry about it, just leave the text file as it is.
    6. Then go to http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=86880 to learn how to attach a file to your post.
    7. Post another message in this thread with the aforementioned text file attached.

That will give people here something to work with in diagnosing your problem.

The main reason i think its still net framework is:
When i run razer game booster main.exe the completely same error pops up
and razer game booster is not even a driver, find it hard to beleive that both of them make trouble at the same time?
    and also
when you said be sure to edit out certain parts like serial numbers, is that private information? sort of wouldnt be happy sharing that
I did a little reading though it :.NET Frameworks installed
    v3.5 SP1
    v3.0 SP2
    v2.0 SP2
apperently it thinks i dont have it installed even though when i go into programs and features i see it and it is called "Microsoft .net framework 4 client Profile

Correct, Razer's executable file main.exe is not a driver, but it depends upon certain drivers to function correctly, and it "knows" exactly which drivers it requires. The drivers on the other hand are made up of a lot of executable code but they don't execute any code. They're just libraries of executable code that get called upon by executable files (ergo the extension DLL = Dynamic Link Library). In that sense, drivers are not "cognizant" of the file requirements of individual executables that call upon them, so they aren't going to throw up a message about incompatibility. In short, the error messages are coming from the executable files, not the drivers.
I'm not entirely sure about why this is important. It's something Major Attitude insists on and he never does anything without a good reason, so I just go along with it. I suppose someone could distribute your Windows PIN on the internet and you end up getting busted for piracy.

Was that a question? In any case, I don't follow your logic here.

By the way, you didn't attach that Speccy report to your last message. If you haven't already done so, please follow the instructions for creating and posting a report, as set forth in one of my earlier posts in this thread. It will help with diagnosing this problem. Thanks.

when i shown you that net framework list, i wanted to point out that even speecy doesn't see net framework 4, implying that it somehow doesn't install well
The reason i didnt upload speecy is because i am worried that it might contain some private information, the moment you said "be sure to delete serial numbers and stuff" turned on a red light
Mind telling me if there is ANYTHING i should delete before i upload it?

That disclaimer was originally written for a data mining app called Belarc Advisor which included the Windows Product ID in all of it's reports. The Speccy program, on the other hand, does not include such information. The report does however contain certain serial numbers pertaining to computer components and it is best that you edit these out of your report prior to publishing it. Simply use a text editor such as Notepad to search for the word "serial" and delete those numbers.

The report does contain information pertaining to the versions of .NET Framework installed on your system. The report furthermore contains other information that is important to problem solving virtually any computer related problem, and it is for this reason that I requested it. Publishing the report is certainly not a prerequisite for receiving help and advise in this forum, although it does understandably impact both the quantity and quality of the help received. For this reason, I recommend that you create a report and attach it to your next post.

okey im gonna send you a print screen shot from my desktop to show you something i found out,
On the left side i used the net framework detection app to show that it is installed and ran both exe files that are having trubles with it (razer game booster and amd catalyst controll) I also discovored that net framework 4.0 has been installed on my D: partition. Is that maybe important?Isn't this supost to go into system files or something? It never prompted or asked me where i want to install it btw

If you click on the first link kb318785 you see the location of the NET framework in the registry so yes, it assumes that all are installed on the partition with the Windows OS.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP

are they even supost to be in the D partition? i read that they are supost to sort of stick to the system files and should be in my C partition?
Is this what's causing the problems? How would you go about fixing it?
And also what "first link kb318785"? be a little more specific with the instructions please :) ty

OK, now I think you are just being intentionally difficult. It sounds like you are convinced that your problem, which started immediately after installing new graphics card drivers, stems from your.NET Framework installation. You are not going to stop asking irrelevant questions until someone tells you that the problem is something other than the new drivers that you installed. Well, I'm not going to tell you that, and it doesn't seem that ploder is going to tell you that, so we're all just wasting each other's time. I suggest you uninstall the newest AMD graphics drivers, reinstall the previous set, and contact the pertinent manufacturer's support team for help. I have nothing else to offer you.

    Hi

With .NET issues, I have found that going back to basics is a good option to rule out .NET problems and Aaron's app HERE is a great place to start, helped me with many issues. It will uninstall all bar the default .Net that came with your Windows OS, then you need to install the latest .Net and see if that fixes your issue.

**note it will remove all none OS .Net versions so some apps may not work until you re-install the .Net version that the app needs, generally the latest is backward compatible**

i already used the ultity to remove 4.0 from my pc and reinstall it :)
i also tried reinsatlling it as administrator and using some command in command prompt provided by the microsoft team
Also i tried using the app a few times with difrent tries of reinstalling, even using Advanced system care to registry clean-defrag to clean it up a bit before installing, and i reeboted between every install-uninstall

    Hi

When you where optimising your drivers did you use a driver scanning app or download the latest drivers from your PC or Motherboard/Hardware maker?

Sadly in some instances if your PC is an OEM, like DELL, HP etc, the drivers that the scanning apps find for you are not the best, they can cause issues, so best advice is to install and start with Chipset the drivers from your PC maker again.

Do you use a driver finder app and if so what one?

Do not use registry fixer apps. they seem great but in the main unless you know what they are deleting they can be a curse.

Other than the Catalyst error message for .Net 4.0 appearing does your PC work ok?

I used Iobits driver booster to update a few drivers (graphic card, network adapter, sound drivers). The thing is my game starcraft 2 runs alot smoother after i updated the drivers and the pc is actually faster
The only things that is screwing around is netframework (and if you read in my post earlier i tested it on 2 apps to deterime ints net framework itself and not the apps)
Does it mean anything it installs in my D: partition? Not an expert but i don't think its supost to do that

  21. _nullptr

    _nullptr Major Geeky Geek Geek

It hasn't installed to your D partition. What you are seeing there is a temporary installation directory that should have been deleted once the .NET installation completed.
The reason the D partition was used is that often MS will use the partition with the most available free space to run its setup files/updates from.

already tried that tool, its not helping
and after all the times i reinstalled and redownloaded net framework (web and standalone installs) i dont think its corrupt, i think it might be something with my OS?

So does your .NET 4 installation successfully verify?
When you installed the new drivers, was the Catalyst Control Center also updated?
With Razer Game Booster did you have the .NET error straight after updating the drivers, or was that something you noticed after you started uninstalling/reinstalling .NET 4?
Have you tried reinstalling Game Booster?

  25. Referystylex

    Referystylex Private E-2

to be honest i dont know twhere catalyst controll updated as well, iobit driver booster did it for me
as far as razer goes i installed it during that time because i was annoyed by starcraft 2 stuttering ( which i later found out all i have to do is check "disable desktop composition"
and net error i noticed after updating drivers

As previously asked, when you ran the .NET Framework Setup Verification Tool, did v4 successfully verify?

  27. Referystylex

    Referystylex Private E-2

Hello, im not even sure if i used it right
The thing that would confuse me is it would say to reinstall while keeping the application running, but the moment you reinstall it reebots,
after that if would ask me to repair and i would let it, still the same error

  28. _nullptr

    _nullptr Major Geeky Geek Geek

It doesn't sound as though you ran the tool I was referring to.
.NET Framework Setup Verification Tool User's Guide - http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/10/13/8999004.aspx
    Direct download link - http://blogs.msdn.com/cfs-file.ashx...9-90-04/netfx_5F00_setupverifier_5F00_new.zip

Just unzip the tool. Double click to run it. Select the .NET version you wish to verify, then press the Verify button.
When it has finished running, a log file will open. If the .NET version doesn't verify, save this log file to somewhere convenient and attach it to your post.

edit: Read the section with the heading Log files at http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/10/13/8999004.aspx

When you run Aaron Stebner's .NET verification Tool, it will list all the versions of .NET framework installed on the computer. You select a version in the drop down list and it will verify.
What are your choices in the drop down box?

".NET Framework 4.5.1 has not been installed because:

    The error 0x80240017 explained here
    http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers/63.html
translates to " install is not needed because no updates are applicable'.

    Here in post 2
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Fo...ms-with-installing-visual-studio-2010-express
is an explanation of why Windows update fails.
This seems like it might be the cause
The OS update installation engine is in a broken state that prevents the installation of any OS updates (.msu files)

Since Aaron Stebner is the expert on all things .NET framework, read through this

Hello, i decided to do a clean install of my OS. For one i have very little personal files (which i backed up). And for two i have noticed ever since i reinstalled it (last month) it was a little buggy to say the least, it won't update and it wont let me change my desktop background and yes i activated it. So what im gonna do is a clean uninstall, chances are that will fix everything, but before i do i will thank anyone who helped me in this thread.
    Best regards

I have done a clean install of my OS, and this time i'm not using Driver booster to do my work for me, i would like to ask: What versions of .NET framework should i have installed on my pc? i mean for general use, i already know that 2.0 2.5 3.0 and 3.5 are supost to come with windows 7 itself.
So my question is should i just install 4.0 and 4.5.1?

Okey, its all over it is fixed, when i updated the driver to the latest it updated net framework itself and now everything works perfectly

If you don't need anything above 3.5, don't install 4.
If you need 4, do not update to 4.5 because the things that require 4 will not work. That's where people are having problems.

For now, avoid any installation above 3.5 If something complains that it needs NET 4, find out before you install anything if it will work with 4.5 or only 4.

So what version of NET finally did it?
