Win7 64 Home, no updates for a month?

I've been out of town nearly a month and my Win 7 machine strangely can't find any updates. Last download was on 12/11.

Is there any way this is working as intended, and if not, what can I do?

My Windows 7 system shows 9 updates on 12-13-2013. Make sure automatic updates is turned on.

    • Click on little flag icon in system tray (next to date/time)
    • Click "Open Action Center"
    • Click on "Windows Updates" in lower left of Action Center window
    • Click on "Change Settings" in upper left of Action Center window
    • Choose "Install Updates Automatically" from drop down menu
    • Choose "Every Day" for "Install New Updates" drop down menu
    • Check the first 2 boxes
    • Click "OK"

Now Windows will check for (and if available install) updates every day.

I already have Automatic Updates on. I'm talking about an additional manual check that keeps reassuring me there is nothing to download. I thought it was odd because I've seen other Win 7 boxes download updates every week in December.

Are those 12/13 updates the most recent ones you downloaded? If so, I think I am current, and I just downloaded the Tuesday updates sooner than you did, that week.

Usually if it says "No update available" then that is what it means.

If there was an issue checking, it should have displayed an error message and then troubleshoot from there.

I have only seen 1 case where everything reported green but in fact it was way out of date, in that case I simply shutdown windows update service, renamed softwaredistribution folder, started windows update service and bam it worked. Basically, I "cleared the cache" for it.

You may also want to ensure BITS and BFE are functioning, although if they were, it should give errors

The next batch of updates, four in number, will be offered in Jan. 14, 2014,
The last updates for Win 7 was on Dec. 10, 2013.

There was an update a few days later but only for XP. This was to replace the certificates file because of some bogus French certificates. Because newer versions of Windows do this in the background, they did not get offered the update/patch.

I have Automatic Updates enabled and check for Updates daily, yet I have never had Windows inform me that no updates were available. That's kind of the point of "automatic" updates (set it and forget it). You are free to check for updates manually as often as you like. Did you have a question about manual updates? I don't know how you could have seen other Windows 7 computers download updates every week in December when in fact Microsoft released only one set of updates in December.
The last updates that I downloaded were on 12-13-2013.
