What make and model is the PC?
What version of Windows are you running (including Service Pack)?
Is the BluRay drive internal or external?
Did you re-install the driver(s) and/or the player software for it?

Since it's a custom PC, you'd need to go to the BluRay player manufacturer's site and obtain the driver(s) from there.

    Gotcha.

But how do I figure out what the make/model is for the blu ray player?

Is this the only optical drive in the computer? If it is, it would need to work as a boot device if you needed to re-install Windows. Is the information about the drive you listed from Speccy or from your ebay/paypal purchase?

Please go into device manager and see if there's a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark inside it next to the device.

I have a dvd player too

    it was from paypal.

But now I'm wondering if the repairman I went to used that BD drive to re-install windows, too...

Edit: Now when I go to that "Computer" menu, it just lists the BluRay drive, the dvd drive, like, disappeared on that menu....

Hmm. Not seeing anything, but it says :

HL-DT-ST BDDVDRW Ct10L SATA CdRom Drive

I don't know what was repaired on your computer. But, it's possible that the shop dislodged/disconnected the cable to the drive that's not showing in computer (does it show in Device Manager?) OR there may be a short/break in that cable or one of it's connectors.

That "HL-DT-ST" drive must be made by LG. I have a similar external LG super drive. But, if both optical drives show in Device Manager, you may simply need to re-install your BluRay player/burner software. If during the repair done at the shop they ran Malware removal software, the BluRay player/burner software may have become corrupted because the malware removal process removed a dll or other file the player/burner software needs.

So, I opened my PC and tried to re-connect everything. But it's the same as before: Blu Ray shows up (but wont play anything). Dvd doesnt show up at all.

How do I reinstall the Blu Ray/software?

That DVD drive not showing may mean a bad cable.

Do you recall which software you were using? I've used CDBurner XP and Ashampoo Burning Studio for burning DVDs. I can use Windows Media Player or Winamp to play DVDs.

When you insert a DVD in the BluRay player does Windows ask you what you want to do?

When I inset a disk into the blu ray player, it'll spin, but it won't load (so it'll ask me to inset a disk even though I just did).

Also, I use VLC to play. MakeMKV to burn.

Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance to you. :-o

I'm not familiar with VLC or MakeMKV and now, I really don't know what's going on with the BluRay drive or why your DVD drive isn't showing.

Hopefully, someone can jump in and be of more help to you in getting this situation rectified.

    Success!!!!

I simply grabbed some of that dust spray for PCs and then wiped it down. Now it works!

Nah, the dvd drive wont even open at all, so I cant spray it down (if that'll even help). But whatever...
