    Hi,

Is is possible to upload pictures to SkyDrive without installing Silverlight?

I understand that Silverlight has security issues.

    Thanks.

Ps. On a related point. Can you recommend good online free storage where freeware (pictures etc) and publicly available mdiia may be stored - the bigger the better.

I use Dropbox.com, if you "refer friends" to dropbox you get an extra 500mb of storage.
They give you a link for the friend to click https://db.tt/nVhLK041 and if they sign up you get extra storage. I'm up to 3gb now, but you can get up to 16gb if you have lots of friends.

I quit using SkyDrive because every time I got their sharing routine down they changed it. At one point they made you sign up with a Live account to even view someone else's public pictures. I decided to ask them about it, so I said "Is it possible to share images with someone who doesn't have a Live account without making them sign up?". They said "Yes, here's how you'd have them sign up...". :banghead

It's fine for cloud storage for yourself, but if you plan on sharing it may drive you nuts. They're currently getting ready to change the name of it completely to OneDrive (I assume to make it similar to OneNote), so who knows what changes they have in store.

    Thanks for responding.

I get the impression from here and elsewhere that SkyDrive is problematic.

    Best wishes.

    Hi

Never had issues with Skydrive or OneDrive as its called now and Silverlight is no more a security risk as Java, Flash, QuickTime etc

If you have Vista > Win7 then you can use the OneDrive Desktop app and it adds a branch to Windows Explorer and you use it just like a folder on your desktop.

In Windows 8 you have this built in.
