Editing a RTF File

    Hi,

Recently I was sent an rtf file and could open it in a word processor (Word and Writer) without difficulty.

However, I could not type into or edit the file. The cursor was stuck at the top left hand side (blinking), nothing worked.

But, after saving the rtf to doc, everything worked well.

    Can someone explain.

Ps. I checked the security of the rtf file, and could not find any restrictions.
In addition, Wordpad allowed editing, but only opened the first page!

    Thank you for responding.

I have Word 2002 and Writer, which is a Kingsoft product.

The writer of the article you linked does not discuss Word 2002.

    I did not apply a workaround or a fix-it.

All I did was to open the file in Writer, could not edit the file, so I tried using Word 2002, again I could not edit the file, so finally I saved the rtf file as doc, and could then edit the file as normal.

I still do not know why I could not edit the rtf file directly?

    Thanks

    A
