I would call this a Malware issue but it's on Major Geeks. I have no Facebook account or Twitter or anything else.

Please provide removal instructions to remove the share bar (and down arrow)
    from the website display.

    HI

Just need to clarify what you are referring too as the down arrow bit has me lost, the other bits I can link to this screenshot and options, if that's what you are referring too on the forum.

If this is what you mean then its not "malware" at all as its not infected your PC, stolen data etc, but is more a feature of the website, yes I will agree what some may not like it but to keep a forum going it costs money and links, advertising and even social media links do help keep the "free tech support forum" going.

If you a referring to something else then please do let me know as I can look into it?

Yes that's what I meant. If you feel the need for it maybe it could be done in a less intrusive way.

I'm open to it, but its really not my call on keeping or removing it as it will be the owners of the site, I will ping them to this thread and your question.

Understand that the forums don't make money. Closer to losing. Since the complaints have been few, most understand our need to try and maximize traffic to the front page and social media. I'll pass it on to Jim and see if it can be added maybe as a block so it runs left to right above posts, for example but being a holiday weekend, don't expect anything today, if at all.

That's the new style "addthis" share bar. It's pretty common around the net..

This is a way of easily sharing a particular thread or topic.

The old way is adding static images to the top or bottom - which people couldn't find. Or adding it to each post - which would yield about 100 extra icons per page.

So on the forums adding a scrolling bar is by far the best choice.

If you mouse over the bar you will see a grey arrow -- click it. That will hide the bar from view for you. (see image)

    Hope that helps.

I thought this was part of the browser lol.

Personally, I actually like it. If you run into a really important or helpful thread, it's just one click to having it up on facebook, etc.

Based on Corporal Punishment's information concerning the gray arrow at the bottom of the menu, I would say this is something that's easy enough to disable, so I would like to see it stay...

I made width of the forum 90% from 97% - that should stop it from overlapping the content area and be less distracting for folks.. I hope. ;)

Good move. I like it. It works well. Donate, new social buttons, everything is on the outer green mat. Nice!
