There is no Option tab on right side of email yahoo., I am using Google browser, There tool, setting ext tab but no option.

I remember when I use to use Inter net explorer there was a option tab in right side but with Google browser there is no option tab.

I have already block 50 or so email addresses but still new emails keep coming 50 to 60 per day in my spam folder, I just delete all without opening every day

If Yahoo spam filter is that bad I would switch to Gmail. That'll stop it instantly.

That post is from 3 years ago. Please discontinue posting links for things that you have googled and are guessing. Yahoo Answers is certainly not where we want people linked to.

You've been told to stop posting outside links.

Some one suggested to do following:
You can forward spam email to spam@uce.gov

I forwaded close to 100 spam mail to Spam@uce.gov
The result was that I am geting more spam mail then before.

I have never heard of it, but apparently its legit: http://www.ftc.gov/news-events/pres...-new-e-mail-address-deceptive-spam-spamucegov It looks like it's been around for over 10 years. I'd think if it did any good, people would be talking about it more.

Why you got more afterwards, I couldn't tell you.

Are these emails going into your spam folder?

If so, the reason you have a spam folder is so spam goes into it and not your inbox. As soon as you use an email for anything online, you will start to receive spam. I'm afraid if you are looking to block all spam from even getting to your account, you are probably fighting a losing battle.

Agreed. Yahoo mail is crap. It's like a spam magnet and too much of it does not get caught in the spam filter. I had an account and got rid of it after a year and got a Gmail account.

I'd honestly suggest keeping your yahoo one for stuff like registering online and then create a new one for friends and family and work.

The reason why I got more spam because to forward the spam mail to .gov I have to open the spam mail, may be that is why the no. increase,

I will just delete spam mail without opening it if there is no other solution.

All other emails do not have this many spam mails.

Click the gear icon on the far right.

    Select Settings
    http://thumbnails110.imagebam.com/33234/2bc09d332333785.jpg

Under settings, select Blocked addresses and type in the address

You do not have to open spam to view who sent it or the IP it was sent from.
Select a spam message and select More. Then choose View Full Header. You will then be able to copy and paste the address into your blocked addresses list.

Last: never respond nor waste time forwarding any spam. Either immediately dump all messages in the trash or View the Full Header and block the address or IP.

I started blocking addresses. I will block 10 addresses per day so in 10 days I will have 100 block addresses. As of today I have block 49 email addresses.

I have been battling spam since 1996, and I have long come to the conclusion that the only way of reducing spam in your Inbox is to employ good spam filtering. Gmail does an excellent job!

However, all spam filters need your help; spam that makes it into your inbox should be reported. On Gmail you just click the Report Spam button.

On other systems, using an email client like Outlook, report spam and spam links via http://www.spamcop.net/ and/or http://uribl.com/

Sending spam to some government agencies serves only statistical purposes.

    Just for your information

I did put 50 or so email on block list yesterday. But to day in morning I got 90 emails in my spam folder, I deleted all without opening,
When I look at my email again at 11:30 Am there were 60 spam email in my spam folder.

I will keep deleting them and put them in the block category, may be after some time it will clear up.

This is just for your information.

You will never get on top of it if you persist with Yahoo. The answer is in the thread, three times.

I am using hotmail, gmail juno and few other email addresses, I know the easy way out is to cancel the yahoo account and live happily after.

But I was checking to see if there is a solution to get rid of spam.

Years ago, before the ISPs started installing effective spam filters and before the rise of Gmail et al, many ppl used Mailwasher, a program which sat between your email client and the POP server and marked what it thought may be spam and gave you the chance to read it and delete it before it was downloaded. The program also claimed to 'learn' as you used it. If you are using a POP service you could give it a try as it's still available and hosted by MG.

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/content/p...FORID:10&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=mailwasher&sa=Search

But if you are using webmail there is absolutely nothing you can do.

If you want to spend the time to block emails or IPs, you have that ability in any email program.

I don't think that is an answer to what you are asking...certainly not a good one. Its a band aid on a hemorrhage. You can block all you want and there will still be more. Its the same all over the internet. Its the same with blocking email addresses. They just create more. Some email providers are better than others. From my experience, Yahoo is at the absolute bottom. Your best bet is to find the email provider that filters out the most spam.

For my online purchases, site registrations, etc., I actually use the first email I ever had which is my aol email address. Even though I use it for my online activity, I would say that, at most, I get 4 or 5 emails a week in my spam folder. Compare that to my old yahoo which I used for friends and family...its no contest. Yahoo is crap.

Don't count on it happening in YMail. YMail is garbage. Sad because I've used this address since 1998 or 1999 and it just keeps getting worse.
    I have 446 blocks and I still get between 30 - 50 spams daily.

I look once a day, dump the spam and move on. I have removed all my contacts, stored messages from there and changed most people who had my YMail address to something else.

Spammers change e-mail addresses almost daily, so blocking may do very little to stem the flow of spam.

Like it or not, you need to set up a new e-mail address for your important stuff. Personally, I'd use outlook.com - it's free and appears to have fewer spam issues than Yahoo.

A longer and more complex e-mail address also reduces the risk of a program that generates random e-mail addresses will send you spam.

    "Bob123@outlook.com" - Bad
    "Bobby_Smith_8653124@outlook.com" - Better

Use this new e-mail only for close friends and critical communications (credit card and utility bills, etc). NEVER use it on social media, to enter contests or to do online shopping with (for shopping, you may want to make up a second one like "Bobby_Smith_Shops_8653124@outlook.com".

    HI

Does the spam go into your JUNK folder or main INBOX folder, if in JUNK folder then the email service is doing its job, if not then difficult to manage really as many have said in this thread, the spammers change the email address, you can setup filters to specific key world or block specific email addresses but this can become tiresome.

Yahoo not so great an blocking spam at source I have found, Hotmail/Outlook, Gmail more so.
