I noticed today I got these ads popping up and it has an area where you can disable them or find out info on them. Well it turns out I have some program called browser shop extension on my computer. The problem is I have check my program lists, as well as my extensions but am unable to find this annoying thing. I have even tried searching for it via starts search engine. Any ideas on how to find this thing?

What browser are you using ? Have you ran a scan with Malwarebytes in safe mode ?

I haven't tried to run MB in safe mode but I did run it. I will try that. I am using Chrome. The site says it can be remove via program list or extensions. I haven't seen it in either. I wrote to them see what they will say. I was wondering if it came from downloading 3D Max from the official site. That is the only thing I downloaded and installed.

Let's see what the below will find:

Please download SystemLook from one of the links below and save it to your Desktop.

    SystemLook_x32-bit

    SystemLook_x64-bit
    • Double-click SystemLook.exe to run it. (Vista, Win-7/8 users should right-click and select run as administrator)
    • Copy the content of the following codebox into the main textfield:
      Code:
      :regfind
      *browser shop*
      :filefind
      *browser shop*
      :folderfind
      *browser shop*
    • Click the Look button to start the scan.
    • When finished, a notepad window will open with the results of the scan. You can just close this notepad window since the log is already saved on your Desktop. Be patient! It may look like it is not doing anything, but it takes awhile for this to scan thru your whole system look for matches.
    • Please attach the SystemLook.txt log found on your Desktop to your next reply.

Having the exact same problem as the OP and it started yesterday as well.
    Checked Chrome extensions, nothing there.
    Checked programs, nothing there.
Ran like three virus scanners and not much turned up and what did turn up I had them clear.
One of those was malwarebytes btw.

Here's the results from that scan you instructed him to do:
    Code:
    SystemLook 30.07.11 by jpshortstuff

I ran the program and posted the results but nothing was found. This is really annoying. I am always careful about what I do. I know how when you install programs to read carefully to ensure that nothing extra is added. The only thing I added yesterday when it happened was 3D Max. This is a software for creating effects in videos. I downloaded the trial version of it.

This is an image of the website itself. I thought I should post this as it seems to scan and tell you what is doing this.

Weird part is, there's nothing I even installed yesterday. It was like something dormant just decided to awaken and run rampant.

Guys! I found the solution! Check to see if you have the extension called "Social Face" in your Extensions bar.

First, go to your upper right on chrome and click on the three bars. Then click on settings. Afterwards, go to the extensions tab and find "social face" and delete it. This should get rid of the problem.

    Best of luck!

    Re: browser shop extension

For me it was an extension called "Flash Save" - once uninstalled the popup ads and ad links on bing.com results went away.

I found it by going to the task manager for Chrome and stopping extensions one by one:
    1. Open a test web page where you know you'll see the ads
    2. Go to the burger button in the top-right of Chrome (the 3 horizontal lines)
    3. Go to Tools > Task Manager
    4. Click on an extension and then the 'End Process' button
    5. After an extension is ended, reload your test page and see if the ads disappear - repeat until they do
    6. Once the extension is identified, remove it from your list of extensions

Hope this helps others work out which extension for them is causing the issue - it wasn't 'Social Face' for me - wasn't installed at all. I figure it's different for each, or a share component of each extension was updated to include this malware.

    Good luck

In my case, it is the MultiLogin extension that include Browser Shop adware.
Disable it and restart Chrome fix it.

You guys motivated me to check my extensions again and I found "Chrome Reload". It claimed it was reloading pages for updates but disabling that removed all the problems I was having so whatever this was it was tied to that for me.

But it sounds like everyone had a different extension causing it so that's interesting and a bit concerning.

Yes. From what I've read, there are all different named extensions involved in this adware/malware. I'm glad people are able to uninstall the extension. Hopefully, that is the full extent of the installation.

I just thought I would let you know what I did to resolve my issue. First I reset both ie and firefox back to default. I then clear caches and cookies off of chrome. I removed and reinstalled ABP back on to chrome and the problem went away.

I never found the program by the name it showed on the site. What I did was did everything they said to do to remove it. Then I ran adw cleaner. reset to default on ie and firefox. Then cleaned caches and cookies and removed and reinstalled ABP. I haven't had a problem for about a day and a half.
