Opinions on Apex cases and psu?

I wanted to try and build my own pc ,

But i wanted the case to be slim similar to what an hp elite 6000 ( small form factor) has which is about 13'' in height , 4 inches in width and about 14 inches in depth.

The only ones i could seem to find were apex brands which aren't rated too badly but my concern is the psu. The thing that appealed to me was that most of them come bundle with a 275-300 Watt psu ( probably enough for what i would use) and being only $45-$60 total is seems pretty good.

Or can someone recommend me some other case with the dimension i noted above?

 

So long as you're using on-board video, a 275w PSU should be fine.

I've used Apex cases in several builds and have never had a problem.

I think an Gigabyte GA-B85M-DS3H LGA 1150 ATX Motherboard will fit fine in that case?

Also am i missing something?

I think all i need is just the case and power supply, i think the one you linked me to includes power cords ( probably have spares anyways).

I was thinking of adding a low profile video card later on probably one that only takes 25-30 watts. However i find the integrated intel HD graphics to be quite sufficient for most needs most modern games can even be played fine in medium settings.

I was curious if i could swap out my lightscribe dvd drive from my hp desktop and use it on this case?

This would probably be my first build from scratch, do brand new processors already have thermal paste pre-installed ? If not does it come with a small tube of it in the box?

 

1. So long as the DVD drive is a SATA connection, yes.

2. The Intel fan that ships with the CPU has thermal grease pre-applied to it.
