Is it wise to buy a PC that has not been reviewed?

I have been looking at a Lenovo PC, Lenovo ThinkCentre M83 10AM0007US, that seems like a good one for me.

There are probably others as good or better than this one. I don't have the knowledge to make a meaningful comparison of similar PC's.

The only thing that makes me wonder about it is that I can't find any reviews on this one. Could be that no one has ever bought one or there is nothing to complain about it.

    Does anyone have some advice?

    Reviewers never hit all models.

The machine is fine, but do you really need a workstation?

Plenty of machines out there that cost as much and give you a ton more performance.

Oops! I forgot to mention I don't want a Windows 8 computer. Looking for a Win 7 64 bit PC lead me to this one and a few others.

Well, the Lenovo ThinkCentre M83 10AM0007US got a "5 egg" review at Newegg. My issue with this particular model is that keyboard and mouse are USB connection only. There doesn't appear to be a PS/2 type keyboard and mouse connection which limits your USB device connectivity.

What other makes and models of Win 7 Pro computers were you considering and how much are you willing to spend? Keep in mind that the price won't necessarily include a monitor.

PS/2 connectors started phasing out about 5 years ago. If you find a computer with those ports on it, it is probably a refurb.

I agree - Lenovo's are nice and all, but you can get a beefier computer for the same or less money then the model you are considering. I guess it all depends on what you intend to do with the equipment.

Many newer boards still have at least one PS/2 connector, and it will usually support either a keyboard or a mouse. I've looked at 97-chipset based boards from ASUS, Gigabyte, and MSI to name a few, that still sport a PS/2 interface.

Thanks to all who took the time to reply.

I have "always heard" that business type PCs came with less Windows bloatware than did home computers ???

I looked at some Dell computers and liked several. Trouble is everywhere I looked at reviews I saw large numbers of complaints about Dell customer support and that sort of put me off about Dell. It seems there are too many to be just a bunch of whiners, etc. Are these valid, in your opinions, or should I ignore them and hope for the best?

My personal experience with Dell phone support has been excellent and I think Dell's online support site is one of the best — but, that's MY opinion.
