Turning off/ disabling HDD from a laptop

Hello guys I have a T100 ASUS transformer, it has an internal HDD that I barely use but it always turns on when I turn on my computer, i have to turn it off to " safely remove it" when I want to detach the screen from the dock, i want to disable it so it doesnt turn on when i turn on my laptop, theres no option in the bios tho, I use Win 8.1 i think.

Isn't your OS installed on that internal hard drive? How would you boot into Windows if you turn it off?

 

hello mdonah, the ASUS T100 model has the OS installed in the "Tablet", if you remove the "screen" from the dock it turns into a tablet, The HDD that is inside the dock (500 Gbs) is just extra space to save data (the "tablet" has 30 Gbs and the OS is in it) I can survive with those 30 Gbs since I use this netbook (or transformer as they call it) just to surf the net, sorry about the " " but thats the only way to explain it! haha

I want to disable the HDD that is inside the dock since i might get damaged when I just want to use the tablet part ( it bothers me that i have to "safetly remove it when I want to remove the tablet)

You can try right clicking the 500 GB drive in Computer and selecting Properties then go to the hardware tab, select the drive in the window and click on policies. Then select optimize for quick removal (see attached). However, you remove the dock (I presume it has a keyboard as well) so, I don't know if you'll be configuring the dock for quick removal or just the hard drive.
