    Hi,
I am downloading the software mostly thro this site. While using adobe photoshop, first it opens a credit software screen and then activate the updator. Since i downloaded free version from this site, i do not want to update and see these screens at the start. I have used the serial no as given in the major geek download page.
Is there any way. Can i register to use this software for future also. Or updating would make it as trial version for some days.
I did not come across this problem in other downloads from this site. Pl advise . Is there any settings to disable this

I'm not aware of MG offering a serial number for Photoshop (certain of it actually).

It sounds like you have a trial and need to purchase it.

Do you have Windows 8.1? Because I see the same issue.

What I did to remove the registration screen was to run it as administrator and then say do not register.

Thank you, sir, I will do as per your instructions.
I think this has so much features that one has to do trial and error methods to use it.
    Thanks for majorgeek.com.
First as usual, i downloaded and ran the setup. It asked for serial no.
I was puzzled that downloads from mg would contain this kind of software. I tried to run it as admn. the same problem. Then i thought of visiting your site again and then read your editor remarks and then found the serial no . Thank you very much sir, once again for replying

Adobe offered it for free some time ago.

I'll look and see if there is a registry bit we can flip.
Edit: I'll have to look tomorrow. Until then, try compatibility mode and run as admin. Try turning off UAC and running ti too. Then click do not register. Close out and test. You should be able to re-enable your security after that.

It is a misconception that Adobe's CS2 suite is "free".

The download and the provided serial numbers are strictly for CS2 customers. The new serial numbers were provided after the CS2 activation servers have been disabled.

Anyway, I don't think CS2 software will run on Windows 8, even in Compatibility Mode.

Sure it will. I have it running on 8.1.

Granted its ugly and does not adhere to Windows 8 design, but it works. Also, I think activation came after CS2. It is just a register reminder and the credits (which has a checkbox not to show) that launch on startup until you turn them off. That in itself needs admin access.

If that's true then there sure are a heck of a lot of other respectable download sites that are also under the false impression that Adobe released this legacy edition as freeware and that the associated serials are entirely legal. Or am I missing your point?

The problem with that is they publicly released the serial numbers and the software. The keys are the same for everyone.

I know what they are saying, but when they offer the keys to the kingdom, along with the kingdom, there isn't much they can do. Especially since that little blurb is not a legal, binding agreement.

The second problem, is initially, they did not stipulate that you must have legally purchased it.

So from an ethical standpoint, should you use it? No.

Did Adobe basically open it up to everyone and has done nothing to change that? Yes. If Adobe even remotely cared, they would move it behind a user registered area where they can track downloads by purchased serials.

That's what the activation did before they shut the servers down.

I don't think Adobe is much concerned if people are going to use such an outdated software. I am surprised that you still get it to run successfully on Windows 8.

On Mac OS it definitely won't run since CS2 was written for PowerPC, not Intel processors.
