Hook it up to an external monitor. If the external monitor displays the video normally, the problem is your LCD panel. If the external monitor has the exact same problem, the issue is with your onboard video.

LCD screens can be found on eBay for around 50-60 bucks, just search "[your model number] LCD" and you'll get a ton of results.

There's a very, very small chance that the issue is with the video cable that connects the back of your LCD panel to the motherboard, but I've seen this on MAYBE .01% of jobs with faulty displays.

my laptop is linovo thin pad edge E430 and its screen is half visible . when its is connected to external monitor everything is normal. what might be the possible cause and there are no cracks appearing on screen

Hi Amaresh. Welcome to Major Geeks.

Since everything is normal when you hook up an external monitor to the video output on the laptop, the flex cable running between your graphics card and the back of your LCD display may be damaged and needs replacing and/or the inverter board may need replacing. You may need to take the laptop to a repair shop to get this checked and done.

Sounds like the screen is bad. This one is really simple to replace and you can get a screen for about $50. Look at the video.
