Start up issues

Using Windows XP....Didn't install anything new....Tried starting my PC this morning and the start up page would not come up....I didn't hear any sound coming from the tower....

I tried re-starting it, resetting power cables and still nothing....I finally got in via safe mode....Now what? Do I try a system restore or is something wrong with my drivers?

What do you mean by "start up page"? Your normal desktop? What sound(s) do you normally hear from the tower?

You got into Safe Mode so, I don't think it's the hard drive. But, we need more info to be able to try and diagnose the problem and offer suggestions on how to resolve it.

 

Just the normal sounds the tower makes upon start up.....It is working now but I don't want to have this happen again.....It is a desktop, and yes, my normal desktop after starting it up......Thanks for the response...

 

Since it's, apparently, running normally now, if you have the OS install CD go to Start -> Run and type in "sfc /scannow" (without the quotes qnd include the space between the c and forward slash) and press enter. It will ask for the CD and try to repair/replace any corrupted or missing System files. It won't touch your data files or apps.

 

I don't have the CD.
