    Hi All

Been a while since I have been on here however you always do such a great job at my computer when I have issues that I now need help with my mother in laws computer.

Im not sure if I have posted this in the right forum. However, my mother in laws computer is very slow, to the point where it takes a good 5-10 mins to something to load up and when trying to close a program or internet down it again takes several mins. Several pop ups occur when trying to use the computer a few pop ups include: my PC backup.com, Driver Detective (safecart.com) and many more random pop ups. My mother only ever uses the computer to check emails or play games or internet banking, she isn't one to download anything or click on any pop ups etc. The computer hasn't been used in weeks because of this issue. Also Norton 360 is up to date and full scans of the computer has been done as well with no issues detected.

Can you please help me in getting her computer sorted? Or is this a complete dead issue?

    Thanks :)

    Deans

Greetings! I know next to nothing, but let's not let that get in the way....have you blocked the pop-ups in your browsers' Preferences/Options/etc.?

It would help us if you told us which version of Windows and which browser(s) your Mother-in-Law is running.

I suggest you post in the malware forum after doing the Read and Run First instructions.

Agreed with Tim. You apparently have a serious malware infection there. To be honest, the vast majority of malware issues I see are with machines that have McAfee or Norton as their A\V suite.

I can recommend Kaspersky, or MalwareBytes as two solid A\V suites going forward.

Kaspersky makes a rescue disk should you have difficulty with "Read & Run".

Can I still do the read and run first instructions if I don't have google redirect issues? The whole computer it self is so slow, take a good 10 mins for the computer to load up and takes several mins for it to close down all programs on the computer

That's the kind of situation where I use Kaspersky rescue disk. It boots a Linux environment from a CD, and scans windows externally. If it doesn't completely clean up windows, it is very good at making it bootable.

You might also check into sysinternals.com .....they have a suite of tools you might find useful.

They are very useful, and in many cases a bit too advanced for the novice user.
