    Hi,

I use the Samsung 840 Evo.

Do you have any experience with that one?

If so, how do they compare?

    Thanks,

    Paul

    The Crucial or the Evo?

I have used both, and both are nice. I've installed two of the 512GB MX100s, and I have a 250GB Evo 840 in my laptop. The Evo edges out performance wise but only due to Rapid software module which has its own drawbacks. The MX100 edges out the Evo on reliability and cost. Rapid module makes the Evo potentially a lot faster, but is still predictive caching and not 100% guaranteed. It also builds in a 1GB memory load and some CPU time when reading and writing.

IMO, the winner of that battle overall is the least expensive of the two for the size. Something else to keep in mind is that the only MX100 worth buying is the 512GB, because the 128 and 256 models are considerably slower.

Hence why I believe bigger is better. At-least in this case.

I've been looking at this: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/g.skill-phoenix-blade-ssd,27934.html

Using this might help my I/O for VMs for the home.
