Windows 7 Pro Business - How many pc's can be activated - URGENT !!!

Hi all,
I was given a few hp pc's with product keys on them.

I have used 1 key to activate by phone 4 different pc's up to now using this 1 single code.

How many pc's can be activated with these or is there a way to find this out ??

According to Microsoft :

"You can't use the same Windows product key to activate Windows 7 on more computers than the Microsoft Software License Terms allow. Usually, the license terms allow the product key to be used on only one computer."

"If you use your installation disc or a USB flash drive to install Windows 7 on a second computer, you'll need to buy an additional copy of the same edition of Windows 7 to obtain a new product key."

 

if this is the case, why has it let me do this with 4 computers on 1 key using phone activation ? and only stopped at 4 pc's because that's all I have ??

Would it not tell me when I register on the phone that already activated ?

Because Microsoft gave you the benefit of the doubt. Even reinstalling on your own machine generates a unique hardware ID (which is why you were given several attempts) that is used to activate with. It allows for several hassle free reinstalls.

Now you will eventually have to call MS for activation when you reinstall, in which, you either lie and tell them its ALL the same machine, or you be honest and use it on just one machine.

Does each PC have it's own COA label with a key on it? Does each PC have the same key?

This sounds like a volume license key (VLK) for business.

 

P.S. If it is a volume key, the usual is five PCs.
