Free music player for android

Sounds simple enough but I seem to be struggling. I just want a free music player to play audio files on my phone, I'd simply like to browse my music via file structure, I suppose I don't mind using a search function that allows you to search for music by artist or song name but I hated that on my 160gb ipod which has just died:cry

Or does anyone know how to play multiple songs with file commander:confused

I'm really liking Rocket player, only problem really is the limited codec support, only has basic MP3 support without unlocking the trial version, no ads though.

Will be giving the N7 player a try now, I'm not in the mood though full of a cold:cry N7 doesn't support MP4 either, no biggie just means conversion needed for some of my music library.

Since my original reply I've purchased the full version of Poweramp and I must say the sound quality, even with poor quality (you tube, etc.) files, is impressive.

MX Player plays...everything.

 

Must be dodgy file type, I've only come across one type it can't play in my collection a version of Mpeg 4 or .m4a but I've converted them to Mp3 and all is well.

I love the navigation features on N7 player, the two finger navigation and zoom into the album artwork, really cool.

maybe I am a bit late, but check out the Mort player. It is nice to handle, free and supports the folder structure in a efficient way. Didn't like the rocket too much myself.

I've been using Rocket player for months now and love it, tried N7, I actually loved N7 more but it kept crashing lol.

I've tried loads of music players for Android. I found that Poweramp works best for me. The trial is free so maybe you can check it out and then buy if you like it. Anyway, what's wrong with your stock player? Why not just use that?

 

There isn't one, to be specific music files are just opened via the media player singularly i.e the next song in the folder won't automatically play.

The next problem are playlists, I have no idea how I ever lived without playlists, I have a playlist built in Rocketplayer with every song I currently like, around 300 and adding a song is really simple.

I would lose the plot listening to songs with the media player then switching to file commander to move songs around within folders to build folder playlists.

 

Giving Rocket a whirl today based on the comments and article posted here. Not bad at all so far. Cheers!
