Ever since i was a teenager i always fancied alienware computers, because of their looks.

For a while i have always wanted to own one, but they are quite expensive for what they offer.

I am certain that for the price that i could probably just build something a lot better but of course i won't have the casing.

I notice that some of the newer desktops have an option to control the led lights to various different colors but it seems its tied down to some specific software.

What i was i looking to do possibly in the future is to buy just the casing of an alienware desktop and just build from there of what i want to use either using spare parts i have or more custom parts i wish to use rather than what something like dell sells them with.

If i do this, would it be as simple to just download some alien ware software to get some of the other features for the desktop? The casings themselves new or like new go for $220+... which is quite expensive in itself i am not sure if in the long run its just better to just buy it prebuilt

Also i see the x51 alienware model bundle with a mouse and keyboard both of which i would like to buy separately, however it can't seem to find them seperately anyone know if i can buy them at all like this?

You may be able to find them at ebay but, be advised that I've seen Alienware laptop keyboards for $450. :eek I don't know if desktop keyboards would be quite as expensive.

those prices are kind of insane and some of the casings and accessories don't even look anywhere close to ''like new''.

I do have the money for an alienware computer, although like i mentioned i know that for the money i could definitely build something better and not be locked down to something that can offer less.

I can't believe the x51 model comes with a power supply of under 200 watts... its as if they think the user will never expand the internal of the desktop very much or at all.

Actually i don't even think that alienware model has room for more storage or much other than what's included.
