    Hi all,

Recently I woke to find my Samsung NP350v5c-S02AU laptop just wont start. If you try to turn it on a little blue light at the front turns on solidly for a few seconds then disappears. No indication the laptop has turned on at all (no whirring of the fan, screen is pitch black, the power button which normally lights up upon pressing stays dark).

Plugging in the charger only gives you the little light at the front indicating the charger is plugged in and the battery is charging (or after a while that the battery is charged). Doesn't turn on with or without the battery, just that same blue light.

Suspicion that the motherboard is dead? Any ideas?

Try discharging the laptop, i had a similar issue like this and discharging the laptop worked.

Unplug the ac power cord from the laptop and take out the battery from the laptop. Hold the power button for about 25-30 seconds and then release.

Try pressing the power button again about twice or 3 times ( nothing will turn on its just supposed to discharge).

Probably wait about 5 minutes after doing the above, and then put back in your battery and power adapter and try powering it on

Discharged the power again followed by taking out the ram one by one and it worked. Put back the ram and worked. Dunno what i've done different but I'm not complaining :)

Since you pulled the RAM modules and reseated them, I suggest you run MemTest 86+ (available here at MG's) to test the RAM. Run it for at least 7 passes to make sure one or both modules isn't/aren't failing.

So while I was trying to fix my laptop and like an idiot I did this to my webcam cable:

http://oi59.tinypic.com/2lar32g.jpg <- thats the connector - note the red wire is detached from the connector

http://oi58.tinypic.com/vx21xk.jpg <- thats the socket for the webcam

Is there a fix for this? I can't find the cable itself anywhere on ebay without purchasing the entire webcam (which often doesn't come with a cable)
