My friend just got this computer and she had a McAffee free trial that came bundled with the computer. I am pretty sure she purchased and installed Trend Micro before the other one ran out.

Anyway, she started getting pop ups telling her to uupdate her flash player. Pretty sure she clicked on it and then downloaded and installed PC Cleaner plus a bunch of other junk.

I ran Read Me and Run First. Hitman Pro had a large number of items which I did choose to ignore per your directions. So far the pop ups are gone and the redirects are gone as far as the home page is concerned.

Please check the logs and let me know what else I need to do to get this issue resolved. Thank you

    ProSuhopper <<< Uninstall this.

Re run Hitman Pro and have it remove all that it finds...

    http://img805.imageshack.us/img805/9659/rktigzy.gif Fix items using RogueKiller.

Double-click RogueKiller.exe to run. (Vista/7/8 right-click and select Run as Administrator)
When it opens, press the Scan button
Now click the Registry tab and locate these detections:

    • [Suspicious.Path] (X64) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\rpcld (C:\ProgramData\Rpcnet\Bin\rpcld.exe) -> Found
    • [Suspicious.Path] (X64) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\ControlSet001\Services\rpcld (C:\ProgramData\Rpcnet\Bin\rpcld.exe) -> Found
Place a checkmark next to each of these items, leave the others unchecked.
    Now press the Delete button.
When it is finished, there will be a log on your desktop called: RKreport[2].txt
Attach RKreport[2].txt to your next message. (How to attach)
    Reboot the machine.

    Delete this:
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\CutterInstance

http://imageshack.us/a/img841/7292/thisisujrt.gif Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.

Re run Hitman (just a scan) and attach log.
    Same for RogueKiller.
Run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista, Windows7 or Win8) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.
Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running!

    No problems

Didn't save to desktop.. Had to save as and name

After running the above two programs I did not find this in the location you specify. Unless it was an option to delete in the programs above. I had already done so.

    Done

    Says no threats

    Done

Had trouble with this because I forgot to click Run As Administrator. Ran it again and everything finished.

There still some BHOs that are a problem. The ones in Chinese. Following the links goes to some Chinese or Japanese website, the translation has nothing to do with anything. it is a story of some sort. There is no way to remove, only disable/enable. Screenshot attached. Going to try to remove in safe mode,

GetUnKey.txt shows it, so let's do this...

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.

Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

    Any better?

It worked and changed the compatibility view back to normal, the Chinese writing add ons are still there.

I am wondering why Trend Micro Maximum Security scans this system as clean,

I reset the browser but the BHOs remain. It says it is part of Trend Micro. Can't see anywhere within Trend Micro to disable the BHOs.:confused

Forgot to mention that file you were asking about with all of the numbers and letters is still there.

If it's part of Trend Micro that should be fine! You ought to ask about this bit in the software forum I think.

Delete it, reboot and check if it's gone.

OK. I deleted the file, rebooted. The file is gone.

The reason I say the Japanese writing is par of Trend Micro is because it is listed beneath the Trend Micro Heading in Manage Add Ons Window.

I am not going to worry about it at this point. Upon further research when I follow a link to find out more about the entry it goes to a Japanese language support forum for trend micro.

Computer is running much better, thank you for all your help. I will just complete the remaining steps to get rid of the tools used.

Thanks again for all of your help.

    You are most welcome. :)

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.

    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
