anyone had trouble with psu included with pc cases?

Some computers i bought already assembled with motherboard and all needed internal hardware just seemed to have a basic 250-300 watts psu,
most people more into computers would probably replace them if they were to add additional hardware. I myself have about 2 pcs i use that came with their basic lower wattage psu and was able to upgrade to more memory , hard drives, and even throw in a low powered video card and they still seem to hold up after 3+ years.

I recently got some cases ( empty) and they already came with psu, i was wondering if these power supplies would actually be as reliable as the ones already included in prebuilt computers ? I wasn't planning on assembling a mega computer just some mid range

Anyone have good experience with these psu in barebone cases? some of these claim 450-500 watt capacity yet they look and feel much cheaper than the ones in my pre-built computers that only have about 250-300 watts.

There is no easy answer here, you pretty much have to look up the reviews of the PSU supplied with the case. If you cannot Google a review on the PSU it is probably a cheap one. In general case manufacturers will use inexpensive pre-installed PSU's which is fine for low end systems.
i.e. if you are building a system to email and surf the web these are fine.
For gaming and video editing you will need to power a LOT more CPU and video card so the PSU with the case needs to be looked at carefully.

Also doesn't hurt to buy a PSU that is more than you need. You never know when that itch comes to upgrade or buy additional hardware. Also, you can easily move that better PSU to a new computer when that time comes.

This computer i built is not really intended for anything other than checking emails, using skype videochat, web surfing , and maybe some mild video editing.

I think even if i add a mid range video card i will still be fine with the power supply. Right now its powering on 2 hard drives, 1 80mm fan, 1 120 mm fan, x 2 2gb ddr3

I think i am pulling a little under or about 80 watts with this, my cpu only takes 10 watts so i suppose even with a mid range card i will pull under 200 watts still .

I hate noise though, any fanless video cards someone would suggest for mild video editing ?

I actually thought cougar and rosewill cases would probably turn out to be really cheap but for lower end builds they are great for the prices, though rosewill uses really thin metal on their cases and internally most them look designed nearly exactly the same..

I have better power supplies but i just figured they are not worth using on a low end build like this which will hardly draw much power..
Also anywhere where i can print out the led, power mother connectors manual? This is only the 3rd pc i build from scratch to date and well since i am still a novice i have trouble remembering where to hook up the front panel connectors ( hd led, reset, power led etc) that i rather print out a paper to look at next time i build a pc.

The motherboard manuals and pc cases didn't have instructions on what i stated above , actually rosewill case manuals only have like 3-4 pages showing you the screws included and a picture of the case from all angles..

    Hi

Pre-build PCs and there PSUs are normally ok for that PC spec as they don't account really for upgrades, but s you mention these are only for surfing and email so not going to tax the PC much as for fanless video the Geforce GT730 is a possible option?

You'd have to link to them for me to make a judgement on the cases.
Best option is the maker of the motherboard as they will have specs for the connectors, the likes of ASUS, Gigabyte if a custom build PC board are better than the OEMS like HP, DELL for this info.
