Okay...I have a feeling this thread will get about zero attention here, but I don't really care. (Mimsy!...where are you??) :-D

I don't typically get excited about makeup. I really like it but don't get excited. BUT I found some at Target that I love!

Gel Eyeliner by L'Oreal. I love this stuff. It goes on really easily with a brush, dries quickly, and stays on.

So for all you Geek women...and any Geek men who are interested LOL...this stuff is great.

Now if I could find some eye shadow that stays on as well.

Even while on my second glass of wine I have no idea how to respond to that, satrow. LOL

Are you comparing Mimsy to a punk rocker? She may kick your butt for that.:-D

On the rare occasion I wear makeup (and I do mean rare...it's less than once a year), I end up wearing stage makeup because it's what I have access to. LOL

Which leads me to recommending eye shadow. Ben Nye makeup (if you've got a theatrical supply shop near you they should carry it, or I believe you can order online from them) makes fabulous eye shadow that can be worn all day every day (remove it at night) and stays where you put it without creasing.

Well, I get forced into all the guy's skin care and smelly stuff. I have a whole shelf of smelly stuff. AND she used to sell AVon. I have enough to last me for life!:(:-o
She loves L'Oreal Eyeliner thingy, too, Laura. Apologizes if she sees me with no make-up on. As if I think she's any less beautiful without it, LoL!;)

If you wanna spoil him, Laura, if you haven't already, get him Million, by Paco Robanne, it's very classy!;) Bit spendy, but you pay for what you get.

TBh Laura, its great to share and while I may not wear this product, I find it great when we do find a product that excites us.

Quickish side story: in work folk do wonder how I know all sorts about all sorts of things, at times I get folk coming to me and asking the most obscure things, and those in my office so HUH, when I reply with an answer. Loads are tech questions but the thing is I assimilate information, so never know if one of the girlie collegues of mine asks another about this sort of thing I can go Ah-ha Gel Eyeliner by L'Orea is your best bet! ;)

Thanks for the tips Laura & Sgt Tibbs. I spend the whole summer outside in the sweltering heat watching youth sporting events and I melt so good to know there may be a better product out there to try.;)

DavidGP you just never know when a wealth of information may come in handy on any given topic. LOL

haha...is it pathetic that I'm just glad my thread didn't sit here all sad and stuff with no one posting in it? LOL

On the male eyeliner note....I definitely see enough men wearing it now days that I don't really think twice about it anymore. You always have that option if you get the urge. heh

    Like a reverse panda!

Strangely it likely will, which is the sad thing, I have the habit (shush... don't tell anyone) when I loose the will to live with a conversation to throw a random in... once with someone who is a really nice guy but can ramble on about stuff too much, I was going comatose... until I threw in the line "do you like salmon" he and the room went quiet, kinda puts folks off the stride.

Don't think they had the time to laugh at the time, it was stunned silence, some did laugh later on that day/week, but its great to keep folk on their toes.

    Right here! :wave

I was distracted by a freak-out over my new job yesterday and avoided being online. Sorry about that, but really, Mimsy panic attacks honestly are not for fit for public consumption. ;)

GEL eyeliner!???!? I've been looking for a good one for years! Does it come in very black black? And how does it work on the waterline?

Sure. Why not? Let me get my large buckle-heavy black leather boots on first though... while starting up the Sex Pistols playlist. ;)

Congrats on the new job!:) Sorry about the freak out. Hopefully things have settled down for you.

I haven't tried it there yet. I do lashline, but when I go out at night and want more dramatic I'll do waterline. It does come in very black. I got dark brown and then went out yesterday and picked up navy and bronze. :)

I opened it and it actually comes in a glass pot. I was shocked. I also Love the brush that comes with it.

LOL Did you really say that on a forum full of geeks? You may be sorry. :-D

Btw, Sgt Tibbs...I went onto a cosmetic site and bought some of that brand of makeup. :) They had a powder that people were raving about. Ben Nye Banana powder. I'm psyched to get that. Plus I got some blushes. Thanks for the tip!

I stopped wearing make up a few years ago. I like to apply it every now and again though. Used to love making my eyes all smoky and black and loved this type of liquid eyeliner I had, really gave ya that Egyptian cleopatra look ;)

Ooo, bronze! Now I definitely have to check it out!

Sure, why wouldn't I say it? :p I can be anything I want to be. ;)

They're on the playlist, of course. So is Clash and of course Ebba Grön. It's called the Sex Pistols list because it started with them and the others got added later. :)

Back to make-up, Phycisians Formula has a couple of really good liquid liner pens with a brush tip, the 2-in1 Eye Booster something. Comes in a couple of black shades and a dark brown, and last forever.

I'm happy to report this gel liner attaches to the waterline very easily. It does however start to fade/flake after about 6-7 hours or so.

haha...It's a banana color tinted powder that you apply on your face after putting makeup on. The color supposedly works great with most skin tones.

I wish hubby would use aftershave. I actually just said something to him about it 2 nights ago when he stopped at the pharmacy to pick up some more mint rubbing alcohol for after he shaves. :(

Oooo...so you picked some up. I figured the 24 hour thing was BS. I also figured there is no reason to have any makeup on for 24 hours.

How does that compare to others you've used? Did you like it?

I really do still like it a lot. I'll have to time mine and see how long it stays on my lashline.

I have tried two other gel liners. The best one has been discontinued by the manufacturer... :( The second best lasts 10+ hours on the waterline, but costs about four times as much as the L'Oreal ones do. The problem both had was that after just a couple of weeks, they became so dry they caked up and became unusable. (Brand names omitted to protect two innocent manufacturers of spectacular eye shadows.)

The 24 hour claim may have been with regards to the lash line, but after 18 or so hours, it was flaking. (Unintentional test, carried out by forgetting that I was wearing eye liner and thus forgetting to wash it off before bed.) I tested the bronze color, I have yet to try out the black one.

I will bow to your experience on this, but I can see that the colour would enhance a glow?! need to consult my sis or friend jules, as they will know this stuff.

I actually dont mind aftershaves and some of the shower gels that the aftershave companies make as its much more different to just deodorant or general shower gel.

Luckily I have a great friend and she works for a perfume company so I get a few samples, and those are normally the full strength products.

Others I like are and you should get other half to try some in a store:

    Carolina Herrera - Herrera
Hugo - Hugo and Hugo Red
Laura Biagiotti - Roma (nice if you like earth smells, its kinda woody)

and on the topic of new things my friend Jules, she aimed me at this website, only as she was wearing a dress this week I said looked really good and she said it was £5, material was really good and made good, if you in UK (Emma - Kestrel) here is some really neat clothes http://www.everything5pounds.com/ have to be quick as I think they only get so much of various colours and sizes in but for £5 (postage is around £5 as well) you can get a full weeks outfits for £30.... OMG listen to me!!!!! Not GEEK at all, Nooooo

I am now curious about this banana powder...!

I looked up the Ben Nye web site, but can't find any information at all about where I can buy this. They don't seem to be selling online either... so where would I go to purchase this allegedly magical product?

Hopefully you haven't ordered from Amazon, yet, Mimsy. That's where I was going to get it, and then read some reviews that it wasn't the actual product. They are not authorized to sell it.

I got it from Camera Ready Cosmetics: http://camerareadycosmetics.com/products/ben-nye-bella-luxury-powder.html. I got it in 2 days and really think it's worth the hype. I've never used powder because of the chalky look. This is silky and is really nice.

Btw, in doing a search and finding a review with a tutorial I also found this in which she speaks of the banana powder:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X69kAgWg83w#t=784

She is really quite good. She has a review on the banana powder as well, here:
