Just got a virus warning

Hopefully there's enough of the URL to tell where this came from since Avast won't give me more information unless I upgrade. I had just gone to another site when this popped up. I was browsing only the Lounge, if that helps.

 

Browsing the Lounge in Chrome, using Avast... so am i right now, and no warning. :confused

 

EDIT: I just tried the IP directly - Avast flagged and blocked it immediately as url:mal.

IP belongs to Fastly: http://www.fastly.com/ so probably some kind of ad.

Might just be (another) false positive from that IP, one was flagged then confirmed by Symantec as a FP on 2014-07-24, VT has them clean since, though how thorough/frequent the checks have been, I really don't know. https://www.virustotal.com/en/ip-address/23.235.40.130/information/

Worth flagging it up on Avast's forum, you might get clearer info there.

 

That makes sense. Thanks for explaining that, I was really starting to get confused. My Avast browser plugin is very adamant that MGs is a safe site.

 

That does make sense! Thank you. I found it really hard to believe there was something here that actually was a virus, but I also figured it couldn't hurt to mention it just in case. Of all the places I go, this is pretty much last on the list of places I would expect a problem.

 

Yes, Avast does that. One of numerous reasons this particular Geek doesn't use it.

I've actually never had my Avast do that to me, quite the opposite. The only time I ever notice it is when it asks me to please update the program itself, and not just the definitions. I find the mobile version far more intrusive, to be honest.
