Why can't I download Flash!?

Something like this happened to me a long time ago. I don't remember how or if it got resolved. Anyway I don't much like Adobe and haven't used Flash in a long time, but there is a video I really need to see, so decided to bite the bullet. I went to Adobe, which is evidently the only download site for it [I do all my downloads on MG as its the only site I never have a download problem with].
MG doesn't have a download site for Flash.
Download starts, I click save file at the prompt, click twice on the install file thingy, and a a big black box labeled installer comes up. I click on that twice, nothing. Its just a big black box with no printing in it, nothing. It does nothing. I do this 5 more times. Same thing. Usually the black installer boxes for things have printing in them and do something. This is just black and empty.
    Why???
I would appreciate it if someone could help me with this as I need to see the video asap.
    Thanks,

Eldon, I just replied with the long version but it didn't go thru. No doubt I screwed up. Am using Firefox.

Eldon, I'd tried the other things on the help page, but not the one you suggested. Just tried it and it added shockwave flash to my plug ins. Is that the same as flash? The video, however, is a facebook video and isn't coming on. Wondering if I have the right flash or why the facebook videos aren't working for me.

It's always great when a problem is solved.
With regards to the Shockwave Player, the only advice I have is the little info I got thanks to a thread I started last year. I don't have it installed and I can watch videos on Facebook. You decide.

This is a very old naming convention/confusion from the days of Macromedia.
    • Shockwave Flash = Flash Player
    • Shockwave for Director = Shockwave Player
