Comodo Time Machine

I installed this a week or so ago and noticed today that System Restore was no longer working. Just now when trying to uninstall the old version of Java for its update, I see that that Java will not uninstall as Windows cannot do a system backup. Further, I tried to uninstall CTM itself only to find the same unable to backup problem. I can only assume that CTM is preventing Windows' backups. (The same problem occurs when using Revo Uninstaller as it uses Windows' backups.)

Any help would be appreciated.

 

Snapshot programs such as CTM, Rollback RX and Wondershare Time Shuttle impose some pretty severe operating restrictions, like no booting from bootable CDs and no rolling back at all other than using the program's own snapshots. So neither System Restore nor Windows Backup can be used while they are running, nor any imaging program such as Acronis et al. I was a big fan for a while until I began to realise I didn't really need all those snapshots and a couple of recent disk images were a lot more useful.

 

Thanks! I ended up uninstalling CTM via their special uninstalling instructions. Now, all is back to normal.

If you do use this product, be aware that it shuts down Windows restore system and, as a result, prevents the ability to uninstall a program since Windows is unable to perform a system backup. This is in addition to restrictions mentioned above.
