After reading in another thread that ImgBurn is now bundled with TuneUp, I downloaded the program. A scan with MBAM showed the program to be bundled with OpenCandy. I installed ImgBurn and in the first window there are 2 EULAs - 1 for ImgBurn and 1 for OpenCandy. There was no option to not 'install' OpenCandy. Also, nothing about TuneUp. I then ran ImgBurn while connected to the internet and there appeared no :*** recommended software from OpenCandy. What am I missing?

BTW During the installation of ImgBurn, I was not connected to the internet. And my virtual life didn't come to an end... rolleyes

Don't know about OpenCandy - would have to try another install to check that. But it seems you need to be connected during install to get TuneUp. The TuneUp Accept/Decline window only appears right at the end after quite a delay. Probably a good idea with all this junk being bundled to disconnect during installation. I'll be trying that next time.

This why I started the thread. There where no add-ons in the first window, and no TuneUp in the last window. And I'm not critising ImgBurn - it's a superb program. And thankfully, MajorGeeks always warns us.

    Purpose of the thread...

FYI I have been avoiding the :*** :crap like this for years.

I use ImgBurn portable. In fact, I use quite a few portable programs on my desktop computer.
I do remember some program was stopped by MBAM (thank goodness I have real time monitoring) from installing Open Candy on my computer.

    Thanks JoeRay12.
Nobody on this thread was whingeing or criticizing ImgBurn or it's publisher. And not everybody is as PC-literate as we are. I merely started this thread to provide a simple solution to avoid PUPs. People don't want to read, not the EULA, TOS, CG, or anything else. And yes, I also don't have sympathy with them. But, we are here to help.

I could re-install ImgBurn and take snapshots of every window to prove that I didn't even see the optional programs offered - simply because I was not connected to the internet. KISS works for me.

That said, having to uncheck optional programs in the first and last windows is sneaky.

BTW I have the utmost respect for programmers providing free applications.

PS We provide free advice. Can we sneak in a link to websites where have a commercial interest... rolleyes

    no.

Thanks JoeRay12 for your insight. We are never to old to learn.

Your reference to original inaccurate criticism has nothing to do with this thread wich I started.

JoeRay is simply trying to provoke me, but I'm not biting ;)
