Update error message

Just moved this from hardware section.
I just set an older computer back to factory due to a few problems. Every thing went fine until I tried to do an update in Win 8. There

were 177 updates. After it finally installed an rebooted I am getting the hated "updates failed reverting" error message. This happened

once before and it took forever to fix, thanks to the help I got online I was able to get it working. Now I have tried all the things I

had to do and none are working. So far I have ran the Update Troubleshooter and supposedly was fixed, ran msconfig and disabled the

Microsoft settings, also disconnected all USB connections. Tried all these 3 X's to no avail. Lots of hours , any help would be greatly

appreciated.

For 177 updates, I would NEVER try to install all at once.
Look through the list and install the ones from 2013, if any. Reboot, even if not told to do so.
Then look over the list and install from the first 4 months of 2014. Reboot.
Follow this up by next 4 months of 2014. Reboot.
Then the remainder from 2014. Reboot.

As far as 2015, I probably would not try to install 5 months of 2015 updates. I would break this down to Jan. Feb. and Mar.
Finally April and May updates from 2015.

No. But near the top right of each thread is the heading Thread Tools. Click the down arrow and you can select subscribe t this thread.
You will get a notification when there is a response to the thread.

You can also email the page. I'm not sure what exactly shows - maybe just the posts up to the point you select it but no new posts.
