When traveling with Google maps on and using Wi-Fi, what is the best program to enhance Wi-Fi coverage? I have seen some but am unsure.
I think using data for an 8 hour trip would not be feasible.

    Qcheck seems to read well.

If you mean trying to maintain a WiFi connection while on the move Peter, that just isn't a practical possibility. You really need a satnav or a mobile with a satnav app in that situation. I find my Windows phone excellent when travelling as the maps work without either a data or wifi connection. I assume it's done by GPS.

    >>Yes, traveling with my Galaxy S5 I use the Google map app and wondered how to use it without gobbling up a lot of data. I do have the component GPS so I can fall back on that.
I am set up to receive GPS + Wi-Fi but I guess you are saying I need a dongle from Verizon for example to maintain connectivity.
I am glad for you with your GPS success.

No peter, I am saying there isn't any way at all that you could maintain a WiFi connection while on the move. It has to be data or GPS.

Any idea how sat nav apps work with phones?

It's as JoeRay says. On a Windows phone there is a Maps app into which you download those you need. There is also a Drive app which uses GPS to pinpoint and display exactly where you are on the map and in which you set your destination. Certainly works well here in UK and I assume Android and iPhones must work similarly. If they don't use GPS then they must use the phone's data connection. You would need unlimited data for that to be practical.

    Thank you both.
Sat nav is the way to go.
