I am trying to hook up a second monitor to my pc via hdmi.

I already have 1 hooked up via vga, and wanted to add a 2nd one as a display.

    The tv/monitor i am trying to use is a supersonic sc 1311 : http://supersonicinc.com/tv-home-theater/led-tv/sc-1311
the computer i am using is a acer m3910.

I am not using a video card just the onboard display which supports hdmi and vga. I verified my tv's hdmi port works because i tried a tablet connected via hdmi as well as a raspberry pi 2.

I also tried 2 different cables, so the issue seems to lie with the pc not detecting the monitor at all.

It doesn't even show up as an option, i would have figured a tv built in this age would probably be compatible with hdmi in a pc.
My hdmi on my pc works i tested it with another display

Maybe i can't even use this as a hdmi in a pc though? The manufacturer website isn't very helpful the pdf sheet is kind of vague other than the general connections it has which is already on the description.

I was hoping i could use this tv as a small display for documents and such and i specifically liked this one because of its size and the fact the its a light as paper.

If you disconnect the VGA monitor, does the HDMI monitor function?

There is the possibility that your integrated graphics does not support connecting two monitors.

If i disconnect the vga monitor it still does not detect my small hdmi tv.

My desktops integrated graphics does indeed support 2 monitors as i was using this before but i didn't like the size of of 17'' + 20'' monitor so i wanted something smaller since i use one for browsing/videos and the other for documents.

My hdmi port from my tv works just not through my pc it seems, i am using it as i am typing this but i am using the tv's vga output by using an adapter vga >hdmi to my pc.

Hopefully there is a way to use my tv's hdmi port since it will be a bit better quality

If another HDMI monitor works with the port on the PC, I would have to concur that the issue is with the SuperSonic TV/monitor.

Well this doesn't seem to be the case it appears my acer m3910 computer is just iffy about what tv's or monitors it likes to accept via hdmi port.

Because i plugged this tv to another computer but directly to its video card (GIGABYTE nVidia GeForce 210) hdmi port and i got a signal.

Ill just buy a video card to put in my acer m3910 i can get a low median range one for about $40 and i kind of needed one so i could also do triple display. Or maybe someone can advise me on how to get the tv to get signal from my pc via hdmi

I think a zotac 730 will do the job? however i think i may need to add another fan in my pc because i already have x3 4 gb sticks, 3 hard drives all just cooling from a 180 mm fan. I think my 300 watt psu might be sufficient i know people always suggest larger power supplies but i personally never had a problem with stock power supplies and low powered video cards.

It is a PIA when you're not there with this stuff in front of you. If I was on a service call, I would have connected the SuperSonic to my service laptop to see if it worked. Ah well.

As long as you're not gaming or doing anything power intensive you could get away with a low end card, BUT more than two displays would be pushing things a bit...
