We had to put one of our dogs down today. It was so sad. She had s seizure and couldn't come out of it. The house feels a little empty now. :(

Sorry TimW. It is such a hard thing to do even when it is the most humane thing to do.

So sorry to hear this and I know how difficult it is :(
Our previous Rhodesian Ridgeback, Ruby, had to be put down due to cancer and it really hit the family hard. Twelve months later we got another Ridgeback pup called Ujaama Strawberry Fields but we call her Shiloh and now she is almost two years old.
Shiloh is a great pup but we still miss Ruby so I know your pain Tim.
So sad and I'm sending my best wishes :(

Tell them if they don't behave, they are next.

Hope a little joking is OK, it is never easy.

Ouch, Tim, so sorry to hear that. It always hurts to lose a pet.

(There is a heaven for them at least. It's filled with very slow squirrels, who are covered in peanut butter and cheese...)

Put down our Golden retriever two months ago. The other two (Saint Bernards) are now inseparable.

At first I was like, you had a cake that went bad?

But, yeah, I'd hate for one of my two cats to die. I don't admit they are good companions to friend/family, but they are. Luckily they have a few years to go on them. Ugh, can they be annoying.

When Buster died from Cancer it was hard. Part of the pain was knowing I had waited too long. It is part of the bargain though, we give them a home, a family, and hopefully a peaceful end and they give us their unconditional love.

So sorry to hear about your sad loss of your canine friend, Tim. That's the trouble with loving someone or something - it hurts when they go.:cry Lost count of my losses.:(

Sorry to hear about the loss of your fur baby. It is hard when we lose a part of our family. Your other animals will also be feeling it too. I hope you can take some comfort from them still being around.

Now we are thinking she was poisoned. Our little Jack Russell is showing the same symptoms...........we rushed her to a emergency clinic where they think it is some toxin.
They are treating her symptoms....but only time will tell.

OK, time to lock and load.

Very sorry you are having more problems. One dog friend death is enough.

Jeez Tim that is really tough:(
Would make you wonder if it was one of your neighbours and then which one :confused
I hope it turns out OK for the Jack Russell and you get a positive answer one way or the other as to the cause:)
I'm sending you my best wishes :)

Sorry to hear about Abby Lou. Is she the one you were considering the halti and a collar similar to one I had?

Crikey musky there seems to be a trend of people having dog problems. A close friends 8 year old miniature schnauser has been really sick for the past week with some sort of internal infection. Normally an active and healthy dog this has come out of the blue and the vet can't pinpoint the cause :(

Oh well I hope things go better for you than they did for my dog Ruby a few years ago.

All the best Musky and I know they are tough times by first hand experience so keep your spirits up:)

Errr I don't just mean booze either ;)

    God Tim. That's awful!

Is there a plant they could have eaten, or maybe mouse poison or something?

  25. TimW

TimW MajorGeeks Administrator - Jedi Malware Expert Staff Member

We live on 20 acres...so it's hard to say what they got into. The Vet is thinking mold. But we have no idea where they could have gotten into it.

FoxFire is better today, according to the vet. But not 100%. We will pick her up on Monday and follow up with our regular vet.

Mold could be persimmon seeds, rotten peaches, or moldy nuts. Or someone put out poison.

yeah, some jerks do that for coyotes and other animals. Not cool, but it may not be personal. I don't expect that is of much help though.

Foxfire is home. Back to normal. We just need to keep an eye on her whenever she goes out to make sure she doesn't get into anything toxic again.

The staff at the emergency clinic said she was the best dog there this weekend. She is a lover.;)

Thanks for everyones kind words! :major

    Great news Tim :-D
These things can be tricky so I hope you can work out what caused the problem in order to prevent it happening again ;)

  29. TimW

That;s the 64 thousand dollar question. What did they get into, can we find it and can we keep her away from it. She can no longer go out without supervision.

That's great news, Tim. Scary on not knowing the cause, though.

Sorry to hear of your loss Tim!

We had to do this last Nov with my 14.5 yr old bichon, and we all still miss him tremendously.

Thanks. The emergency clinic faxed over the records to our regular vet and he called. He explained that although some of the symptoms were similar, Jesse was not poisoned. She had a temp. that was off the scale, non-responsive to stimulii and in much much worse shape.

The little one is glad to be home and is trying to catch up on her sleep!! LOL
