I was fortunate enough and happy to take a very early retirement. So now I do just what I want to do when I want to do it.;) I love to read and now that I have the time I read a lot, doing some traveling, and enjoying spending time with the family and friends. If I run out of things to fill my days I will do some volunteer work. You might think my life is boring but I am presently enjoying it a lot.:)

Maine. I am not that tech savvy and new here but if you can fix up your house and grow stuff in rocks with your computer, that is real impressive. I cant even get my laptop to do the washing up. 3 attempts 3 laptops??

Like, for a job? Or in my copious free time? LOL

In my regular life I'm a stagehand for http://iatse26.org/, primary training in lighting, wardrobe, and matrix (programming and running the LED ribbon board and scoreboard at our arena), but able to work in every department with appropriate adult supervision. I also write freelance for a couple of different tech blogs, make jewelry, and run a cooking/recipe blog and Facebook page. Most of my online time ends up being divided between scrolling through umpteen tech sites to find something to write about and ignoring it all to play Farmville.

When I'm not on the forum, and the weather's good, I love to get out with the camera. Apart from that I now have a little job. I look after my Dad, too. I also like to play race games on the PS3 and I spend alot of time on the dreaded facebook as I have a local nature/wildlife photography group. :)

Wow... work generally is most days, weekends and evenings try to get on the forum but recently time is taken up with research medical papers, have just had two published I colluded on ;)

Testing new software and playing with Windows 10 and getting my head around servers as I used an older i7 Intel desktop as a Win Server 2012 R2 box, next is learning more on Sharepoint Server.

Been writing up text for a diploma in diabetes, worth me doing for work and studies I do work on and should not take me too long, given myself 6 months to complete, done module 1 and 2 in 3 days so 5 more to go.

Been asked by the medical consultants I work for to think of writing a book on diagnostics for eye conditions, more Age Related Macular Degeneration, which is my main area.

Food and Booze takes up the rest of time :major

    Thanks Don

The math (soon as you add ∑) mumbogobbledgookjumbo is way over my head hence I'm 3rd on the paper as in papers the amount you contribute adds to where you come, so 3rd place for me as the mathgeek and the dr who deals with malaria in africa are in front, I added the diagnostic imaging bit.

Sounds great outlet when not in front of PC and from your other posts your local has many good shows and events going on, I'm like you normally have a C or two to fix for friends or relatives, nothing MAJOR this weekend, did last week in cloning a HDD to an SSD for an updated laptop ready for Win10.

To follow on from my earlier collaborated paper I now have this one published
http://www.nature.com/srep/2015/150608/srep11154/full/srep11154.html same Malaria disease but different component of the disease, Intra Vascular Filling Defects are likely a known precursor to outcome, good or bad.

So this is what I been doing when not on the forum.

My first time bulk reloading ammo. 500 rounds of .45 should be done in the AM before I head back up to North Louisiana to cook for my Dad. I need to get one of these reloaders. I cranked up some iPhone tunes and had fun.

A truly epic range trip is planned with around 25 people next month. Can hardly wait!

Just back from a road trip with my oldest daughter, my mom and my sister.

We went from Pennsylvania to North Carolina and back to take my daughter to orientation day for the college she will be attending this fall.

So at the moment, I am enjoying a nice quiet morning relaxing with my coffee and seeing what I missed here at MGs. :)

c#, though I am not tied to any one language.

I'm employed by an MS shop, so I primarily work with c#, vb, javascript, html5, css3, asp.net (including entity framework, web api, wcf, web forms, mvc, odata, and owin), wpf, win forms, etc.

I also have become to company's main mobile developer, so I also use java and XML with Android, and the occasional stumbling through objective-C with iOS.

I have experience (in this order) with:
    C#
    VB
    Java
    C++
    PHP
    C
    Objective-C

Well Wendy Jean Marsden, I have to say a brave thing to do on any tech forum but I'm really glad that all on that forum and this have not judged you, they have accepted and moved on with your choice in life.

Good that your diabetes and hypertension is better controlled as thats a serious vision issue, so do keep that in check (I mention as eyes are my field of work).

I think you have this right Don in that in the main the internet is gender neutral in the main, do we care what sex a person is, not really as its what they post or contribute that determines a person.

Thanks guys. It really is good to be back. Looks like the forums have compressed a bit, but most of my old friends are still here. It is all good.

I've let myself get behind the tech curve. Been focusing on the hardware front, chippies and such. I'm trying to learn Python, since BASIC seems to be a dead language nowdays.
