Getting winrar errors crc or unexpected end of archive. problem?

    getting winrar errors crc or unexpected end of archive. problem resolves when using cd recovery disk, but data files need reinstalling. Deleted winrar and used windows xp with sp2 repair does not solve problem any solution ithout losing application and data files???

    Is your problem with WinRAR or Windows XP?
    You can repair Windows XP without losing any data or programs. WinRAR can be uninstalled and reinstalled.

    Have you tried another version of WinRAR?
    Have you tried 7-zip to unrar the filre?

    I haven't used WinRar in a long time. When I did, I'd get errors in one version but another version would be able to unrar it.
    I got tired of trying different versions on different computers so I finally just moved to 7-zip.

    If 7-zip doesn't work, look for something else that can unRAR a file.

    Hi, emilejaxiv. Welcome to Major Geeks. :)

    Are you running Win XP SP3? You need to be if you're going to continue to run XP on your machine.

    As plodr said, you'd be better off running 7-zip for your archival needs. It's compatible with Win XP up to Win 10. You'll have a 7-zip submenu in the right-click Context Menu. You can then create archives or decompress almost any archive including tarballs.
