How can I discover a poster's IP address on a board such as this?

Over on another message board I have somebody claiming to be somebody who I'm sure he isn't. Thus I'd like to discover his IP address. I could never find a easy way to do this on the internet. I get the feeling there just isn't any real ways unless you do some very complicated hacking, which I don't want to do.

 

IP addresses are not available to non-administrative users.

 

I agree with TimeW and Adrynalyne no body's Ip address should be disclosed to any one except the administrator's of the site.This is how most forums ban people from logging in.

It doesn't matter. Would you want your person of interest acquiring your IP address in any fashion?

If you feel this person is an impostor, call him out and make your case there.

 

By default, forums are configured to hide this data from non-administrative users.

If you don't see an obvious way, then it isn't available to you.

 

Even if you could legally obtain someone's IP address, what are you going to do with it?
No ISP is going to give you someone's private info. Also, many sites show my IP address as 500 miles from where I live.

 

I'm sorry I ever asked here I just thought somebody might know of a way to view IP addresses. I'm just curious about somebody on another message board who is harassing me there. Let's say my poster name is Data Banks 01 here, then after all this time another poster registers for the name Data Banks O1 here, and aims every post they make after that at me. That's what I'm going through on another board. I think I know which poster this is. The administrator has even told me who it is too. But I still want to take a look at this poster's address myself, that's all there is to it.

 

Sorry, we cannot be of assistance with this. We do not assist in gaining personal info on someone, even something like an IP.

If the admin knows who it is and continues to allow it, they don't sound like they care enough to moderate their own forums.
