Can't Activate Windows Ten

A few days ago I upgraded my Windows 7 to Windows 10 using the direct to pc upgrade. I did this by downloading from the net when my Win 7 Pro 64 was installed.

I then formatted the HD and did a Clean Install from the .iso file but it wont let me Activate Windows Ten.

What can i do to Activate Win Ten?

I don't know if I may be able to help, but have you tried reinstalling Windows 10 with the Windows Media Creation Tool?

 

Yes, this is what i did for the Clean Install.

 

You probably should have reset your PC via Windows instead.

What key did you use?

 

It says the Code is Wrong.

 

It would not let me Reset as it asked for a recovery disk and the disk with the Windows .ISO did not work for that.

I skipped the Code as i was told i did not need this yet and after i had done a clean intsall this would work as i had done the upgrade via the old OS Win 7 64 Pro.

 

You should have asked us first. We could have made an image to reset with.

What does the partial key say? Also, did you have a live account before, and are you using it now?

 

Not sure what you mean by a Live Account?

What version did you have before? Windows Core Edition is probably not the right version.

 

I had Windows 7 64 Pro.

 

Activate with this key:

VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T

Note: This is a generic key and if you aren't eligible, it will not work. That goes for anyone else reading this who thinks I just gave them a free license.

It did not work. It said it could not upgrade.

We need a bit more to go on than that. Whats the error? Did it actually activate?

Maybe reinstall, this time using that key.

 

It went through the the activation thing and said you PC will need to restart.
Whan the PC did restart it said my Computer could not be upgraded.

See this is one reason why i did not do the upgrade.It seem that a lot of people that i know are having some kind a issue with the upgrade.

That is why i stuck with windows 7.

I don't mind newer OS but i started to learn to wait after a while be for i install them.

Be cause there are all ways some kinda issue.

He isn't doing the upgrade. He is trying to clean install.

I think what might have happened is that he upgraded, and then never quite checked to see if Windows have activated with the new Windows 10.

If that is the case, it might not have him listed as eligible still in the system. Which means he needs to do an upgrade again.

 

Today i was on with Microsoft Tec Support for about 3hrs.

They tried to fix the problem remotely but to no avail. I was told that they had no record of my Windows 7 64 OEM Key being activated. I find this very strange since if thats the case you get a warning about it being invalid after a period of time and also Win ten wont install unless it is. I also had done a HD Format before i put Win 7 then Win Ten on the PC.

The upshot is i have told i should reinstall the bare bones of my Windows 7 64 and then upgrade it to Win Ten. I can then do a clean install using my Win Ten 64 ISO.

Ayone got any advice or thoughts if this correct?

I think it is probably the best plan. As for the other comment, I do not believe they (support) have access to info that lets them know whether something has been activated or not other than checking the OS itself. So I think they guessed on that.
