There must be a million posts regarding:
Device Name: Realtek AC'97 Audio
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24D5
Multi Media Audio Controller installing as "Other Device" In Windows XP, either Pro or Home Edition, with SP3 and having no Sound.
Dell Optiplex GX270
But no solution from Intel or DELL. There may be driver downloads, but nothing installs correctly. Latest error "ADI CODEC driver not installed. I am now chasing this error, with no hope of resolving it.

Why is it that in 2015, if one searches any of the above, you only end up with the Rip Off Driver Detectives sites that take your money, and do not help at all ?

PS: And yes, I have a reason for recently (this week-end) installing Two versions of XP

 

You're right about the million posts... No such prblems with VIA.

Here's hopefully a solution. You'll notice there are actually 2 drivers - 1 from Microsoft and 1 from Realtek. Post #29 should solve your problem.

No help, but thanks. I am sp3; there is no device in system folder with that name. Also looked at hot fixes kb888111 (not sp3) kb835221 (not sp3), and Microsoft stated that sp3 should have taken care of this enigma !
I'm buying a sound card, and I think that is exactly what I did last decade when I had even an older machine and this same problem!

No such driver UAA bus driver. Tired of all the "try this" stuff on the forums.
