hey guys, I really need some help with this problem.

Yesterday i tried to boot my PC and it got stuck when detecting IDE drives. Sometimes my DVD drive gets recognized. I'm not able to access BIOS. PC worked normal the day before.
Ofc is searched google for solutions but none of the suggested actions worked for me.
    I
    - unplugged all drives and booted : Same Problem
    - changed Battery : Same Problem
    - tried the HDD (Sata) in Roommates PC : Works fine
    - tried to Boot with just HDD connected via SATA : Same Problem
    - Unplugged PC over night with removed Bios Battery : Same Problem
    - tried to reset cmos by jumper a few times : Same Problem
    - switched RAM in like every position ( Both RAM get recognized while booting, so guess they are fine) : Same Problem
    - removed graphic card : Same Problem
    - tried Roommates HDD(Sata) : Same Problem
    - tried old HDD (None Sata) : Same Problem

Guess IDE Controller (Whatever that piece of **** is) is broken?!
    Maybe BIOS ?!
You guys had any experience with that kind of Problem?
Is there any way to access BIOS before IDE detecting?
Please help me save my good old friend from dying!

    System:

    Abit A-N78HD
AMD Phenom 9950 quad core @2,8ghz (AMD2 socket)
    AMD 6870 1GB
    4gb RAM (800mhz)

unplugged all drives and booted : Same Problem - unplugged all IDE cables from MOBO?

You should be able to get into BIOS before getting stuck at the IDE detection.
When you pulled the battery didn't the BIOS error for the clock resetting?
Can't find the "BIOS" key? Hit Del, F1,F12?? hold a key on the keyboard until it errors?

The clock reset error never appeared and yes i tried booting with no cable plugged to mobo.

Keys won't seem to have any impact except switching to boot screen in that first abit screen.

PC now is unplugged by any power or battery. Cmos jumper is normal. Switching jumper doesn't affect anything it seems. Done it while power plugged and without. Tried 2 new batteries.

Anyone has an idea what to try in my case?

I hope not to invest in a new main board, but seems like the only option i have?!

Still can't enter BIOS? Start from scratch pull everything off the board.. leave CPU / Fan and case wiring,& power supply, then power up. Will it tell the key to enter BIOS?
The manufacture's website crashes when I went to look at the manual, maybe you should contact them.

If you have already done this, disregard.

Bit of a long shot, but check your IDE ports on the motherboard for physical damage . . . like a pin bent flat. A pin bent flat will allow you to plug in a ribbon cable, but depending on the pin it sure won't work. If the pin is bent and making contact with another pin unplugging the cable obviously will not have any effect. Since from what you posted this happened without any manipulation of the ribbon cords, it sounds like a motherboard issue . . . but you never know.

Had this issue once in the dim past (Pentium III days . . . D815EEA board as I recall) and the computer would stop at detecting IDE drives.

You just saved my day. I did as you suggested and everything's working now. Thank you very much indeed.
