Email Problem - New "to Me" After 15 Years Using Email

My desktop and laptop OS's: Windows 7 Professional SP1.
A very strange thing just started with GMail. I have a number of both Gmail accounts and COMCAST (my ISP) email accounts. I have three computers at home (two desktops and one laptop). All three computers have the exact same email accounts on them (all accounts configured exactly the same) whether it be in Oultook 2007 or Thunderbird. Especially the feature of 'leave a copy on the server'. The two desktop computers have Outlook and Thunderbird installed. The laptop only has Thunderbird as the lone ranger email program.

Just yesterday AND ONLY WITH GMAIL I will receive emails on one computer but not the other two. The COMCAST emails continue to be received on all three computers.

I have went to a ton of places on the web to try to solve the matter. No luck.

Can anyone provide an idea as to what might be causing this?

    Thanks,

    Dekade

On the offending computer have you re-checked that the option to leave a copy on the server is still selected? IMAP was created for situations like yours, why are you still using POP?

I will now recheck things; again. Regarding IMAP - I am not using strictly because I have never spent the time to understand it or put it into play. Any place that you know of in particular that I should go to study and to get up to speed with IMAP??

    Forgot to add:

All the computers are acting the same way. Not just one or the other

Have you rechecked the Gmail online settings, item 2 in the pic? Capture.PNG

The pic shows my IMAP settings so will be slightly different for you.

Changing over to IMAP requires you to set up each account again in each client, this time choosing IMAP instead of POP. If Outlook and/or TBird cannot find the IMAP
server settings automatically you will find them online at both Gmail and at Comcast help/settings. Automatic usually works - in TBird anyway, I've no time for Outlook 2007.

Thanks Earthling for the additional info. I was just googling and located good info on setting up IMAP. I simply never realized the advantages of IMAP vs POP. I was definitely in the stone age with POP. Thanks again.

You might get transitional issues but stick with it. POP, as you say, is Stone Age ;)

    Earthling (or anybody else),
I know you're gonna hate me for this but here goes. I have a problem with potentially going to IMAP.
    1. I don't like the idea of having to be connected to the internet every second to see my emails (according to what I have read about IMAP vs POP on the web). I like the idea that POP downloads emails off of the server into my chosen desktop program (which I'm really working to get away from Outlook and into Thunderbird).
    2. I don't have a need to look at emails unless I'm at home.
    3. I only have one of my Gmail accounts on my LG G3 cell phone. That covers my cell phone needs regarding emails.
    4. With IMAP, apparently, I cannot look at a received email unless I have internet connection. Comcast goes out a lot in my area of the USA and I don't like the thought of not being able to see what emails came in a few days ago.
    5. Can IMAP and POP be used simultaneously on the same account?
    6. Could the email program (Thunderbird) accept - and handle effectively - the issue of [trial_email@gmail.com] in POP format and a second account [trial_email@gmail.com] in IMAP format????
    7. Doing so would allow rules to send incoming emails that have "trial_email" in the recipients address to a given folder .
    8. Third, I refer back to the original problem. WHY did I all of the sudden lose my capability of receiving Gmail POP emails on all three computers after years and years of already having done so?
    9. Again I iterate - this only happens with Gmail mail accounts.
    Thanks,

    Dekade

I don't care which you choose to use, but if you want to continue with POP, and if you want to get an answer to your Gmail problem, you will need to check out what I asked you in #5. As it's only with Gmail, and is affecting more than one computer, it's clearly not your own settings causing it, it's a server settings issue.

Sorry 'bout that Earthling - I simply forgot to reply specifically to that. YES - I have checked that out; actually three or four times.

It is the same as your posted image.

I just wanted to get back to the forum with an interesting find on the problem I was having - per this thread. Using the below link you will see how to receive POP Gmails on multiple machines. This solved my problem and has been working fine now for two weeks. I hope someone else can benefit from it also.
