Unusual Adware

I posted about my browsers sometimes opening new windows and that they were having issues in software only because I wasn't entirely sure I was dealing with malware.

It took me a while to connect the dots but I think that the adware is of the type that puts ads in text. Or rather it edits text on one's browser turning it into a link. I think it may be able to also infest links and stuff at least when it's not in http form but yeah

As it stands however malwarebytes isn't picking anything up in a normal scan. Whatever it is it's new and since I just updated malwarebytes database as well as the program itself, it is now a cause for concern.

I'm still not entirely sure if it's malware or something else entirely but because all my broswers have the same issue of stuff popping up I think it's safe to assume my computer has viruses that malwarebytes can't detect. I'm doing a full scan at the moment. I tried staying up until it completes but it is now 5: A.M; 3 hours past when i usually go to sleep.

I believe you are referring to double underlined keywords that will show an advertisement when you move your mouse over them. This is not malware nor adware. It is advertising that many websites use in order to offset the costs of running the websites. AdChoices, IntelliText, Vibrant Media.... etc are all forms of this kind of context sensitive advertising.

Then why do some of the links I click sometimes open the link and a new tab in a single click, and this new tab opens to a site that is nothing more than some article of some sort?

You did not confirm whether my assumption is what you are referring to. Are you talking about double underlined keywords on web pages that cause a popup just by moving your mouse over them? Here is an example of what I'm talking about:

If not then you should follow Kestrel13!'s instructions.

I'm refering to hyper links that are have this kind of appearance IE(Next Episode) and take you to another place on the internet. Forgive me the terminology of this is lost on me at the moment I honestly can't think of the word.

Maybe it's hypertext that I'm looking for. As for the question of whether or not I'm mousing over anything, that's a negative. There are no ads like that being moused over as my adblocker neutralizes all ads like that.
