I recently upgraded my HP Pavilion a6400f desktop CPU (Windows 7) and everything seems to be in good working order, with the exception that now my computer will not fully shutdown or sleep. I have checked all of the settings and performed numerous scans, and cannot ascertain what the problem is. I would greatly appreciate any thoughts.

What is the name/model/version of CPU you installed?
How much and what exact type of RAM?
What is the version of Windows 7 - home or pro and 32 bit or 64 bit?
These were probably the original specs:

Here are the current specs. The RAM, to my knowledge, is original to the computer. Also, I upgraded from Vista to 7, (before I installed the new CPU). Additionally, I now only have one Core instead of two after the CPU upgrade - not sure how that happened:

I would reset the BIOS to Default Settings.

Did that, and nothing happened. Also, I spoke with a friend today, and he said his computer has mysteriously stopped shutting down as well. But so far, my anti-virus isn't detecting anything. Thinking about putting the old CPU back in and see if the problem persists.
