    Hello
Has anyone had time tested good performance with a free video editor that can brighten dark videos and is compatible with Win 10?
WMM was deleted from Win 10 and still can be used via Essentials but I am trying to move forward if possible.
I liked Essentials for the photo, Gallery, WLM, etc. but it is 2012 and soon will be history.
    Thanks
    Peter

The latest version of Windows Essentials 2012 was released in April 2014.

I don't have any real experience with video editing, but hopefully this is a starting point, and others will chime in.

    VSDC Free Video Editor.

Thanks a lot. I will look into these and likely use Essentials again as the OIS for Picture manager is ridiculously difficult to locate.
    Appreciate the help.

    Hi again Eldon
This post is very effective. You will read where I chose Windows Essentials to simplify. B/c of your information I was encouraged to use it as I like both the email client and photo gallery. They will outlast me.
Also, I have some choices for a video editor; I am only a novice but at times I need to lighten videos as they tend not to have enough light indoors. I will now research your video editor referrals.
    TY again,
    Peter

Filmora is the one you will find most widely advertised but you have to pay to get the watermark off.
I did download WMM but I remember I have to download something like SQL, or some thing, in order to use it.
I was not into video editing but when WMM was available with Win 7 or 8 there was always some controversy about its limitations and I cannot recall what it was.

Once installed and set up does WMM have all the codecs etc to edit most videos? I wonder why when I downloaded Windows Essentials and it was not there yet many references are made to it being part of Essentials. Do you have any observations, Eldon.
P.S. this is not urgent and is just leisure time investigation. I am planning ahead for when I have the next batch of family videos. So reply as you have time and thank you.

SQL is used for managing and querying databases. It's not needed to run WMM or WLMM.
No. You can try something like K-Lite Mega Codec Pack.

Photo Gallery and Movie Maker are one install.
