I am the IT person at our little company and one of the workstations has started running Outlook 2010 in Safe Mode. I have tried the various fixes.... using scanpst; running Repair from the master disk; deleting an account that I thought might be the problem. Not resolving the issue.
I have all the other systems setup pretty much the same way and I am not seeing this on any other station to date.
    Any suggestions?
What other particulars do you need?

    Thanks

Check on that machine whether KB3114409 update for Outlook is installed. If it is, you can safely uninstall it and Outlook should run normally.

Thank you!!! That was the problem... and the date it was installed was about when it started.
    Thanks again.

I've been having the same problem. Since mid-December, Outlook 2010 only opens in Safe Mode. There is, however, no trace of KB3114409 among the installed updates. I just tried the fix issued by Microsoft--KB3114560--but that didn't do the trick either. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Have you tried the other possible repair steps? Running Scanpst? Inserting the installation disk and running "Repair" from that? Deleting account and then adding it back in? I tried those before Null suggested removing the MS update patch (which in my case, was the trick).

Thank you for the input, bgunn, but I think all the steps you mention are beyond my capabilities. Trying to follow your advice, I downloaded Scanpst but seem incapable of actually running the thing. My inability could be a real obstacle here...

    Hi Jeff

To run the Repair, goto in Control Panel > Uninstall a Program and look down the list and highlight your Office 2010 install listing and then click "Change" this brings up some options and choose Repair and let it run, once finished, reboot and test.

To run Scanpst you should not need to download it so be weary of what you downloaded if not off the Microsoft website, and the instructions for finding scanpst for your Office 2010 (aka Office 14) is HERE with the instructions on how to locate your outlook pst file

Also try installing this update HERE for Outlook 2010 as its from 15 Dec 2015 and was in part to fix that issue, once installed reboot and check Outlook.

Many thanks to everyone for the help. I followed your advice and ran Sacnpst. It did indeed find and repair errors. No effect on Outlook though. It still started only in safe mode. Until the most recent automatic update, and then somehow everything started to work once again!
