Teredo Has Been Disabled By The Local Administrator

I'm trying to help someone remotely. I had them send me a remote assistance request. We both have Win7. When I launch the request and put in the password, the connection never completes and I when I run the troubleshooter I get the message that a feature needed to complete the connection, Teredo, needs to be enabled. When I instruct the troubleshooter to enable Teredo as an administrator, it fails and the error in the subject line is what is in the details of the troubleshooter. I've tried disabling and re-enabling ipv6 and suggested on the Microsoft forum, to no avail. I've disabled my Anti-virus, still no luck. I've also disabled ipv6 as suggested by a friend, and that didn't work either.
    Any ideas?? Thanks!

Also, let me add that the other computer is only connected to the internet via WIFI.

If Eldon's answer doesn't work, Teredo can be blocked using a firewall (or potentially by a firewall). Try turning off security for a few seconds in a safe environment (away from public wifi hotspots) to see if it works and then turn it back on.

Thanks. I checked in my device manager and I didn't see it installed when I selected to show hidden devices, so I followed the steps and installed it. I'll try connecting to the remote pc later on tonight and post here if I was successful or not

Made another unsuccessful attempt at connecting to the remote computer. For some reason on reboot my computer must have uninstalled the Teredo I installed the other night, as I went to check to see if it was still installed and it wasn't. I reinstalled and disabled my AVG antivirus software and tried connecting again. I got the same error message that the local administrator has disabled Teredo. I tried enabling it the the troubleshooter, which it says it does in one line, but then in another line it says it didn't, that it was disabled by the local administrator. And yes, I am in the Administrators group.

I'm wondering if part of my problem is that the remote pc is wireless, and connected to the internet thru a neighbor's wifi. I'm dealing with a 91 yr old woman (my mother) who is in FL. She refuses to pay for her own internet and is piggy backing (with permission) on her neighbor's wifi. She also has AVG on her computer, and I did not have her disable it because the error message I am receiving doesn't say anything about a problem on her end.

I tried disabling the firewalls on both sides. Still no luck. I'm giving up on this one. She just needs to call the local techie and pay him.

Thanks to all who gave suggestions.

Next time you might want to give Teamviewer a trial. has always worked perfectly for me.

Thanks for the tip! I'll look into that when I get home tonight. If it's not to difficult to install, I'll try to walk my mom thru it. For 91 yrs old, she really is more with it than most. :)

I take my hat off to her, hope it works for you both. It isn't necessary to install TV on the client, your mom's machine, as you can put the portable version on a USB and she just has to plug it in. But you can install too if that's better for you.

Good news!! Teamviewer worked like a charm!!! I can't believe how easy it is? Why can't MS have something simple like that rather than that complicated Remote Assistance?? In any case, I was able to resolve Mom's issue. All is well in her world!! Thanks again for the tip!!
