    - You are not currently using a display attached to Nvidia

I'm getting mixed results with google on this one, either it's the hardware not being detected, or drivers aren't up to date. I just updated my drivers for the card, and it is registered by my system, but still I seem to get this message.. Also the control panel item in question is for some reason in japanese so even if we do manage to fix this issue there's the latter currently in japanese to deal with.

    Hi

Best to give us some PC specs etc, so we have a little hardware info to go on as well as a few questions.

What Windows version are you using and include Service Pack if applicable?
What is the make and model of your Laptop or PC (DELL< HP< ACER etc) if its a custom build what is the motherboard make and model?
What is the model of Nvidia card you have?
Where did you download the current drivers for the graphic card from?
Check in Control Panel and Control Panel\Clock, Language and Region\Language what your Language settings are?

The info above will give us some useful info to try and help you, my thoughts without info are that I would uninstall the driver for the Nvidia card and also check in Add/Remove do you have something like Intel HD Drivers listed IF so then uninstall those as well and reboot as I have a feeling you have a system that also has onboard graphics (likely Intel), system will likely boot into a low resolution mode, but download the current Nvidia driver from Nvidia Drivers then install and if it asks if you want to do a clean install say YES and install, then reboot and test.

BUT the info I mention we would be best having will help better as it maybe a case in the Nvidia settings if you get it in English to set primary GPU to your Nvidia card over whatever is the onboard.

It's an alienware X51 R guess that makes it a dell desktop, with windows 10, and nvidia gtx 760 TI OEM, the drivers are from nvidia. Language is english USA.

The language for the hd intel used to be in japanese too until I switched non-unicode setting to english, i don't even know why the were set to japanese locale in the first place but switching back to english only fixed the hd intel graphics settings language problem. Nvidia stayed the same unfortunately.

So uninstalling the driver for my hd intel graphics won't leave me without a means to use my computer, and everything will be in low resolution instead? Like how low are we talking.?

I'm locked out of nvidia settings actually because it says nothing is connected to the gpu. pretty dumb reason to lock me out of a program huh?

    Hi

Yeah really weird you have some apps in Japanese!
No on graphics as a basic Windows driver will be installed, its a lowish resolution BUT what you do now that I have the model PC you have is to download a few drivers first from HERE so that you can install once rebooted.

    Download the following:
    Chipset
    Intel Graphics
    Nvidia Graphics for the GTX760

Uninstall any Nvidia or Intel graphics thats listed in Control Panel > Uninstall, then install the Chipset and reboot, then once rebooted install the Nvidia driver only and choose Clean Install option if presented with that option, then reboot and test, you can install the Intel Graphics as it may help if you are to use multiple screens, but your main driver should be the Nvidia one.

Isn't there some other way? I don't want to constantly use the Nvidia graphics. I just need my computer to switch over to the nvidia card whenever I start up a game. Graphics cards like nvidia tend to use far more porwer than standard cpu from my understanding and the gaming console type graphics cards are louder from what I've heard. I honestly want my intel graphics for when it can handle things, and have my computer switch over to the nvidia whenever I start up something that my nvidia could run better, then switch back when I no longer need nvidia.

No, there isn't. Computers don't work that way.

The only way to do what you want is to go through a complete uninstall of all Intel graphics drivers and then do a full install of nVidia drivers when you want to play a game. After playing the game, you will need to completely uninstall all your nVidia drivers and software and then reinstall the Intel graphics drivers to replace them. The time it takes before you're ready to play your game (or from closing down a game to going back to regular browsing) shouldn't be more than 45-60 minutes or so each time.

It sounds to me as if you're going to need to make a decision here on what is more important to you: Low power consumption, or playing games on your PC. You can have one or the other, but you can't have both. And to be perfectly honest, the fact you spent money on an Alienware has kind of made the decision for you.

Computers don't work that way huh? Honestly someone outghta make one that does and then everyone would be happy. I heard gaming laptops could work that way however, seeing as how they have their screen built in. But I'm not completely sure about it.

Let's try and go a different route with this. Is there a way to somehow make it easier to switch between my graphics cards. You know just set the which card you want to use, restart the computer and boom now I'm using the one I want to use instead of going through dante's inferno every time I want to change graphics cards?

To clarify a little I don't want to have to consistently have to uninstall my drivers just to switch betwen graphics cards. Honestly when given a choice between the two, I can't favor one above the other. It'd be much easier if they just made switching between graphics drivers far easier.

After all my hd graphics card can run most of my games at a normal or fast speed, only one has any kind of issue with speed and using my nvidia card constantly because one game is slow doesn't seem like a good enough reason when all the others run fine without it.

    Why not?

That's a serious question. It's difficult to help when I have no idea what you're trying to accomplish, so let's approach it from this angle instead. What is it that makes it so important to avoid using the nVidia card?

All I want to be able to do is be able to easily switch between using my hd graphics and nvidia card without going through the hassle of uninstalling the drivers and rebooting everytime. It's mostly just having to reinstall and unistall everytime I want to switch between the two cards. If all I need to do is reboot or something to switch them I should be okay.

Thing is I don't play my games on the computer as much as I used to and it seems like it would be wasteful to use the nvidia card when I watch videos and anime more than I play the games. However when and if I get in the mood to play the games that are on my computer, I want to be able to play them at full speed or however fast the game can go.

But HD intel graphics isn't strong enough for that and as a result one game in particular slows to a snail's pace.
